Can I Hold Him?
The long journey eventually began to take its toll on Iva, because no matter how desperately she tried to remain awake and alert, the exhaustion that had been gathering inside her body for days. slowly became stronger than her fear, and sometime during the final stretch of the journey, with Youssef curled against her chest and his tiny body rising and falling peacefully beneath the blanket, her eyelids finally became too heavy to keep open.
She did not remember closing them.
One moment she was staring suspiciously at the dark figure sitting across from her watching every movement he made while keeping one protective arm around her son, and the next,- exhaustion had dragged her into an uneasy sleep, her cheek resting against Youssef’s soft hair while her fingers remained curled protectively around his tiny body even in unconsciousness.
Caleb noticed immediately.
For the first time since they had found her, the tension in his shoulders eased slightly as he watched the woman he loved sleeping beside their son, although the sight brought him no peace because even asleep, Iva held herself as though she expected someone to take Youssef away
from her.
He wanted to reach across the seat.
He wanted to touch her hair.
He wanted to whisper that she was finally safe.
Instead, he remained completely still.
He knew better.
He had seen the terror in her eyes when he touched her earlier, and he could not bear the thought of frightening her again.
Eventually, the convoy slowed.
Through the tinted windows, the enormous gates of the Royal Lycan Castle appeared beneath the night sky, their ancient stone walls illuminated by hundreds of golden torches, while guards stood along the entrance in perfect formation, waiting for the arrival of their king and the woman everyone had been desperate to find.
The first vehicle entered.
Then the second.

Then the third.
Galeb looked toward Iva.
She was still asleep.
For a moment, he simply watched her.

Then, unable to resist the instinct any longer, he leaned forward and carefully reached for her.
“I’ll take you inside,” he whispered.
His hands had barely moved toward her when Iva suddenly woke.
Her eyes opened wide.
She saw him reaching for her.
And she screamed.
“Don’t touch me!”
Caleb immediately stopped.
He lifted both hands, his expression changing instantly as though someone had pointed a weapon
at him.
“Okay.”
His voice was low and painfully gentle.
“Okay, okay, just calm down.”
Iva pulled Youssef tightly against her chest.
Her heart was pounding.
Caleb slowly moved backward, giving her space.
“Nobody is going to hurt you… not anymore.”
She didn’t answer.
He opened the car door and stepped outside.
“Come with me.”
Eva stared at him suspiciously.
“Where?”

“Inside.”
She looked beyond him.
And for the first time, she saw the castle.
Her breath caught.

It was enormous, almost impossibly grand, with towering stone walls, massive arched/windows glowing warmly against the darkness, elegant towers rising toward the sky, and a sweeping staircase leading toward enormous wooden doors guarded by rows of Lycans dressed in royal
uniforms.
Iva’s stomach tightened.
There was nowhere to run.
She looked behind her.
The convoy surrounded the entrance.
She looked at Youssef.
Her son was still sleeping peacefully.
With no other choice, Eva slowly stepped out of the car.
Caleb did not touch her.
He simply walked ahead.
She followed.
The moment they crossed the courtyard, something strange happened.
Everyone bowed.
Guards.
Servants.
| Royal staff.
Even several powerful-looking Lycans standing near the entrance lowered their heads respectfully as Caleb passed.
Iva’s eyes widened.
“So he really is important. Not merely another Lycan. Not merely my captor. He is someone these people feared and respected.”

She walked behind him with trembling hands, every step making her feel smaller beneath the
enormous castle walls.
Then someone screamed.
“Iva!”
She stopped.
A woman came running toward her.
Eva instinctively stepped backward, holding her son tighter.
The woman was crying.
Then Eva recognized her.
Her mother… Rana.
Iva couldn’t breathe.
“What are you doing here?”
Rana reached her and immediately wrapped both arms around her.
“Oh, sweetie.”
Her voice broke.
“We were so worried about you.”
Iva froze inside her mother’s embrace.
Then she pushed away.
Rana stared at her.
“Iva?”
Eva stepped backward.
Her eyes moved between her mother and Caleb.
“You…”
Her voice trembled.
“You’re with them?”
Rana’s face crumpled.

“What happened to you, baby?”
va shook her head.
“Don’t.”
Rana took another step.
Eva immediately stepped back.
Something was terribly wrong.
Rana could see it now.
The fear.
The confusion.
The distrust.
Her daughter’s eyes no longer looked at her the way they once had.
Caleb finally intervened.
“Rana.”
His voice was quiet.
“It was a really long ride, and Iva needs some time to rest.”

Rana looked at him, clearly wanting to argue, but one glance at Iva’s frightened face made her
stop.
Caleb turned toward Eva.
“Come.”
Iva hesitated.
Then Youssef began to cry.
The tiny sound immediately changed everything.
Iva looked down.
“It’s okay, my baby.”
She rocked him gently.
“Is all OK?” Caleb asked.

“He needs food.”
Galeb turned toward her.
“Food?”
“Formula.”
His expression briefly faltered.
“But you’re not breastfeeding?”
Eva shook her head.
“No. He’s eating only formula.”
Caleb nodded immediately.
“Of course.”

Within minutes, several Omegas and members of the royal staff arrived at the chamber carrying warm water, bottles, and several different options of baby formula.
Iva watched them suspiciously at first, but when she realized they were genuinely trying to help, some of the tension in her shoulders finally eased. Plus, she didn’t have any other choice but to accept it or her son would starve.
They had even brought nappies.
She changed Youssef efficiently, cleaned him, wrapped him comfortably, and prepared his bottle with the practiced movements.
When Youssef finally settled against her and began drinking, Eva sat quietly beside the enormous
bed.
She looked around.
A room.
Not a cell.
Not a dungeon.
Not chains.
A bedroom. At least for now.
Her gaze travelled across the elegant furniture, the warm lighting, the enormous windows, and the soft blankets waiting on the bed.

Can I Hold Him?
She had expected something entirely different.
She had imagined being taken underground.
A dungeon.
A dark room where prisoners and slaves were kept.
That was what she believed would happen to her.
Instead, Caleb stood near the door.
“I’ll let you rest here tonight.”
Iva looked at him.
“If you need anything, let the staff know.”
She remained silent.
“Someone will come later and bring you some food.”
She stared at him as though she couldn’t understand why he was doing any of this.
Caleb opened the door to leave.
Then stopped.
His hand remained against the frame.
Something inside him refused to leave.
He turned.
His eyes moved toward Youssef.
The little boy was now sleeping peacefully against Iva’s chest.
Caleb slowly approached.
Iva immediately stiffened and his face had changed.
All the authority, all the power, all the frightening control he carried everywhere seemed to disappear.
What remained was simply a father looking.at his child.
His voice was barely audible.
“Can I hold him?”
