The Messenger( Iva) novel Chapter 113

To Stop?-1

Claim

After their heatred exchange, Iva withdraws to her temporary room. The door to the guest room closed with a firm, echoing thud that seemed to linger in the air long after Iva had disappeared behind it.

Silence followed.

Heavy.

Tense.

Unforgiving.

Caleb remained standing in the middle of the living room, unmoving, his chest rising and falling slowly as he tried-tried to regain control over the storm raging inside him

But it wasn’t working.

Not even close.

His hands clenched into fists at his sides, his jaw tightening as he stared at the closed door like it had personally challenged him, like it had drawn a line he was not supposed to cross.

“Damn it…” he muttered under his breath, dragging a hand down his face as he turned away sharply.

He was this close.

This close to losing control completely.

The tension still lingered in his body, coiled tight, dangerous, unpredictable, like a beast pacing inside a cage that had suddenly become too small to hold it.

And his lycan-

Chaos was not helping.

If anything, it made everything worse.

The powerful presence pushed at the edges of his control, restless, agitated, fueled by everything that had just happened.

Her defiance.

Her fire.

The way she stood up to him without fear, even when she was clearly hurting.

It infuriated him.

And at the same time-

It aroused something far deeper.

Far more primal.

“Fuck” Caleb groaned quietly, tilting his head back as he took a long, steady breath, trying to ground himself, trying to suppress the dangerous mix of anger and desire that burned through his veins.

He needed control.

He had to get control.

Because if he didn’t-

He wasn’t sure what he would do.

And that uncertainty alone was enough to unsettle him..

Just as he began to steady his breathing-

His phone rang.

The sharp sound cut through the silence like a blade.

Caleb’s eyes snapped toward it instantly, irritation flashing across his face before he pulled it out of his pocket.

The screen lit up.

And his expression hardened immediately.

His father.

With a quiet exhale, he answered.

“Father.”

“Caleb,” King William’s voice came through cold and firm, laced with clear displeasure. “Where are you?”

Caleb’s jaw tightened slightly.

“-”

“I heard you left again for the city,” his father cut him off, his tone sharpening. “Stop messing around and return this moment to the castle.”

Caleb closed his eyes briefly, forcing himself to stay composed.

“Myself and your mother are extremely disappointed,” King William continued, each word deliberate, heavy with expectation. “You are supposed to be building a bond with Sonia.”

The name alone was enough to irritate something deep inside him.

“She is your fated mate,” his father added firmly. “Yet you are cold and distant.”

Caleb’s grip on the phone tightened.

“You are supposed to woo that girl,” King William went on, his voice rising slightly with frustration, “not avoid her.”

A pause followed.

To Stop? L..

Heavy

Pressuring.

Caleb exhaled slowly, steadying himself before replying, keeping his tone respectful, controlled.

“I understand,” he said, even though every instinct in him resisted those words. “I’ll return shortly.”

There was a moment of silence on the other end, as if his father was measuring his response.

Then-

“You better,” King William said coldly before ending the call.

The line went dead.
