The Moment I Stepped Into His World as the Fake Girlfriend, I Became the Real Prize novel Chapter 147

Lorelei jumped, the hair tie still dangling from her fingers.

Before she could stutter out an apology, Elena jumped in. "I just felt it getting loose, so I wanted to retie it."

"Right, right! I was just about to help Ms. Larkin fix it."

Following Elena's lead, Lorelei snapped out of her daze. She reached for Elena's hair, but caught a glimpse of Sterling's brooding, intensely oppressive glare.

"Sterling, it's just because Ms. Larkin's hand is hurt. Whoever tied it earlier did a really awful job, so I just wanted to help..."

"Cough, cough—"

Elena coughed pointedly, shaking her head at the clueless girl.

Lorelei's shipping instincts kicked into overdrive, and a sudden realization hit her. Had... had Sterling been the one to tie it?

"Or... maybe you want to tie it for her, Sterling?"

Under the watchful eyes of the entire class, she tentatively held the hair tie out to him.

Up front, Lydia turned around, taking in the entire scene. Her grip on her pen tightened sharply.

Beside her, Sasha whipped out her phone, a dark gleam flashing in her eyes as she furiously typed out a message.

"If you think it's ugly, let her tie it."

Sterling didn't take the hair tie. He didn't even spare Lorelei a glance, dropping the icy words without missing a beat.

"Don't worry, Sterling, I promise I'll make it look super pretty..."

Assuming he was giving her permission, Lorelei reached for Elena again.

But Elena snatched the hair tie mid-air and shoved it forcefully into Sterling's palm. "Babe, I don't think it's ugly at all! I love how you tie my hair! I don't want anyone else doing it. I only want you to do it~"

Compared to Lorelei, she had a slightly better read on the young heir's volatile temper.

She had a strong suspicion he was being sarcastically petty.

If she was wrong, she'd just play it off as overthinking.

Sterling shot her a sideways glance, his emotional state utterly unreadable. "Is that so."

"Yes, Babe! Please help me, I can't do it with one hand~"

She gave his arm a gentle shake. Her natural, pouting charm didn't feel the slightest bit fake or forced.

Under her pleading gaze, Sterling maintained his cold, youthful, devastatingly handsome scowl, but he raised his hands and gathered her hair anyway.

Just like the first time, he tied it up in a messy, incredibly loose knot.
