The Moment I Stepped Into His World as the Fake Girlfriend, I Became the Real Prize novel Chapter 148

-

"Lydia, look at that manipulative bitch. Sterling is practically dying, and she's just sitting there stuffing her face!"

Inside The Commons, Sasha spotted Elena from a distance and immediately launched into a vicious, teeth-gritting rant.

Lydia paused, a flash of genuine concern crossing her face. "Is he... is he really sick?"

"Yeah. I was watching him all morning. He spent the whole class resting his head on his desk. He's clearly not well—"

Sasha dragged Lydia to an empty table and sat down.

"Lydia, you obviously care about him. You need to show it when he's around... You're always so guarded, how is he supposed to know?"

As she spoke, her venomous glare drifted back toward Elena.

"If you hadn't kept pushing him away, that girl would never have stood a chance! She's club trash. She's only with him for his money; there's zero real emotion there!"

Finishing her rant, Sasha pulled out her phone and began typing furiously, sending rapid-fire texts.

Lydia picked at her food, entirely distracted, losing her appetite after just a few bites.

"If you're not hungry, leave it. I brought some of your favorite matcha pastries. Let's go eat outside!"

Suddenly receiving a text that made her lips curl into a highly satisfied smirk, a sly, calculating light flashed in Sasha's eyes.

A second later, she noticed several students in The Commons casting weird, judgmental glances her way.

Self-consciously touching her swollen, red cheek, Sasha angrily pulled her mask up to hide her face.

"Come on, Lydia. I'm taking you somewhere."

Without another word, she grabbed her pastry box and hauled Lydia up from the chair.

Before walking away, she made sure to shoot Elena one last, murderous glare.

From the moment she stepped foot in the capital, she knew the golden rule: her life would only be fabulous if her best friend's life was fabulous.

It was just a massive tragedy that her best friend was a total idiot when it came to reading the room, constantly acting like some pure, unbothered saint who didn't care about wealth or status.

The heir to the Hawthorne empire—a man dripping with unfathomable wealth and power—was practically begging to hand her the world, and she still refused to reach out and grab it.
