The Moment I Stepped Into His World as the Fake Girlfriend, I Became the Real Prize novel Chapter 29

"Why do you think? It's obviously because Sterling likes Lydia..."

"Sasha."

Finally reacting to the spectacle, Lydia gently capped her fountain pen and looked at her best friend helplessly. "That's enough. Leon Lester is right. Sterling has the freedom to go wherever he wants. It's none of my business."

Seeing her so impossibly calm, Leon Lester was at a total loss. He quietly exchanged a look with Lin Zhe, who could only shrug in response.

Then, both of them turned their pleading eyes to Jiang Huaimo.

Receiving the silent SOS from his two idiot teammates, Jiang Huaimo smoothly pocketed his phone. "I told you not to do anything stupid."

Unwilling to admit defeat, Leon Lester lowered his voice. "But she didn't react at all! Do you think... she actually doesn't care about Sterls at all?"

Lin Zhe was far more concerned with another detail. "Is Sterls seriously bringing some escort to campus just to make Lydia jealous?"

"With the way Lydia's acting, isn't this going to backfire spectacularly?"

Jiang Huaimo wasn't entirely convinced Sterling would actually bring a girl to campus either.

He shot Leon Lester a withering glare and snapped, "This is all Hao's fault for coming up with such a garbage plan!"

Leon Lester looked utterly victimized. "You can't pin this all on me! Sterls is so hopelessly obsessed with her! I'm just trying to wingman him into a happily ever after!"

While the three of them bickered, the girl from the front row launched another venomous attack at Lydia.

"Keep up the fake innocent act! If you play hard to get for too long, Sterling might actually show up with a real girlfriend one day. And then you'll be crying with no one to care!"

Hearing this, Sasha puffed up in fury, ready to charge forward. "That Lorelei Lowell always has such a filthy mouth! I'm going to rip it right off her face!"

Seeing her friend about to throw hands, Lydia quickly blocked her, shaking her head to silently urge restraint.

Hearing that, Lydia lowered her eyelashes, keeping her silence for a moment.

"Lydia, his dedication to you is obvious to anyone with eyes. This isn't just a game to him! You've rejected him ninety-nine times, and he's still hopelessly devoted. Name one other guy on this planet who would do that."

"After we graduated high school, he was supposed to study abroad. But because you were sick in the hospital, he literally canceled his plans just to transfer to Kingsley University to be near you. He loves you so much!"

Listening to her list his devotions, Lydia pressed her lips together, clearly moved.

Sasha's eyes lit up as she doubled down. "Are you really going to throw away a guy that amazing and watch him end up with someone else?"

Lydia's grip on her fountain pen tightened, her lashes fluttering frantically.

"Next time he confesses... for the one-hundredth time... just say yes, okay? Come on, do it for me! Once you marry into the Hawthorne family, I can totally ride your coattails straight to the top!"

As Sasha finished her joke with a bright laugh, Lydia finally gave a tiny, graceful nod. "Okay. I understand."
