*Pfft—*
Elena couldn't hold back, bursting into laughter.
Sterling probably had no idea that the dog he was referring to was his dear brother, Xavier.
Breed unknown, wild, and completely unhinged!
On the bed, Xavier stiffened again and again, his gaze turning somber, practically radiating a storm.
"I don't have a dog. Just get out," he forced the words through gritted teeth, his voice laced with a cold dampness.
"Are you planning on getting one, Xavier? This collar... the chain feels a bit flimsy, like it could snap easily."
Sterling was completely oblivious to the fact that every word leaving his mouth was humiliating Xavier.
He gave the chain a casual tug, speaking in utter seriousness. "My buddy has a dog. I can ask him..."
"No need. I'm not getting a damn dog!"
Waves of sheer agitation washed over Xavier's typically arrogant face.
It was especially glaring when he looked across the room at the girl, seeing her wicked, mocking smile, which left him feeling both stung and profoundly humiliated!
The thought that he was currently wearing a sheer, see-through shirt meant to seduce her, forced to hide under the covers like he was unfit for public viewing, enraged him.
He could only close his eyes. "Sterls, I'm tired. You two should leave..."
"Sterls, this collar isn't for dogs."
Before he could finish, the girl's amused voice rang out.
In an instant, Xavier's eyes snapped open, locking onto her fiercely.
"Ms. Larkin, you'd better think carefully before you speak!" he warned, his tone hardened with a blatant threat.
Yet, Elena didn't even glance his way; keeping her back to him, she faced the young man and hooked her finger at him. "Babe, lower your head."
Sterling vaguely sensed that Xavier's reaction was completely off.
But subconsciously, following the girl's beckoning finger, he couldn't help but lower his head.
The very next moment, Elena unclasped the collar and fastened it right around his neck.
"Elena, what are you doing..."
Suddenly finding a collar strapped around his neck, Sterling flushed with embarrassment and immediately questioned her.
But very quickly, realization dawned on him, and he fell entirely speechless.
