Chapter 133

“Hey Alpha, I heard you wanted to talk to me.” Cooper said at the door to the office.

“Yeah. Come on.” I said. So he walked in and closed the door and sat down at my desk.

“So, you have probably heard that we are going back to the other pack today.” I said.

“Yeah. There was a rumor going around about that.” He said.

“Well, we’re leaving today. They’re already packing our stuff up for us but there is a lot of stuff that I need to do before I go. Which is appoint another Beta, who is going to be in charge of the pack while I’m not here.” I said. And he looked at me a little confused.

“Yeah. Beta Levi.”

“Beta Levi was Logan’s Beta. And there’s no secret that I don’t trust him. I trust you. And I know that you can do the job. You’ve stepped up in the year when I’ve needed help and you’ve been there for me. You’ve done so many jobs around this packhouse that I feel confident about leaving today and knowing that this pack will be in good hands.” I explained.

“You want me to be Beta?” He asked.

“I do.” I said.

“I don’t know what to say.” He said.

“Please don’t say no. I trust you and if you need anything then I am just a phone call away.” I said.

“I would be honored.” He said.

So I stood up and I walked around the other side of the desk

He stood up and I grabbed the letter opener and I cut my wrist and said the proper words to initiate Cooper as Beta and he accepted it without hesitation. He actually looked really excited about it. He had more power now and he could feel it.

Beta Levi would have known that he was just stripped of the title so I was waiting for him to show up. And almost on cue, I heard Ezra out the front arguing with someone. So Cooper and I walked out there.

“What the hell are you doing?” Levi yelled at me.

“Meet your new Beta. Cooper.” I said.

“I will never bow to him.” Levi said.

“Then go rogue. Those are your choices.” I insisted.

Levi stared at me and he knew that I wasn’t joking. Cooper was the Beta now and that’s the way it was going to stay, I needed him to be here to run this pack when I wasn’there, but I would still need to check in on it occasionally.

Ezra got rid of Levi pretty quickly and I did another look around the house to make sure that we didn’t leave anything.

I walked into my room and I stood there staring at where Savannah’s cot was. Remembering all the times I put her down to sleep. All the times I walked into the room and she start laughing because she’d woken up from her nap. She was such a happy baby. All the time.

Ezra found me in the room and he put his arms around me while we stood there a moment longer.

I finally turned around and I nodded my head while I took his hand and we walked downstairs and out of the packhouse.

There were a lot of people that had come to say goodbye and they knew that Cooper was the Beta now. He would be moving into the packhouse and everything needed to go hrough him. If I hear of anyone giving him shit or not doing as he says, then I’ll be back to kick their asses. And they all knew that I was serious.

I guess I hadn’t been the most upbeat Alpha this past year. They knew that if I made a threat, I was going to follow through on it.

Ezra, Aiden and I got in the car and we headed out of the pack and it took all of my strength not to look back at the house. The last place that I saw Savannah. I had to look forward. It’s been a year. I knew that people were still looking. But chances were getting worse by the day. I knew that they weren’t going to find her. I just wasn’t ready to admit that out loud.
