Chapter 17

Alpha Logan looked like his head was about to explode. He looked furious and I had no idea why. But the sad part was, I was getting used to him barging in and accusing me of something that I didn’t know anything about. I just jumped down on the bench and walked around him to go and sit on the couch and I turned the TV on.

He turned and watched every movement I was making, like he couldn’t believe what I was doing.

“Excuse me. You are not going to fucking ignore me like that.” He demanded.

“And I’m not going to answer you until you ask me nicely about something you want to know. And you make it clear to me what you are talking about.” I stated.

“You don’t know what I’m talking about?” He asked.

“No. I really don’t.” I said.

“You and Cooper.” He said. And I rolled my eyes.

“Are you fucking serious? Have you seen us have any kind of contact since he saved my life?” I asked.

“That’s not what I asked.”

“We saw each other in the street. I’m not going to just ignore him. I thanked him for what he did. That’s it.” I said.

Someone then knocked on the door so I got up to answer it and Beta Levi was standing there.

“Come on in. Everyone else seems to be doing it.” I said, letting him in.

“Alpha. I have that file that you requested.” Beta Levi said, handing it to Alpha Logan. But I just sat back on the couch to watch TV and I saw Beta Levi looking around the trailer that I lived in.

“It’s a great trailer, isn’t it?” I asked, being sarcastic. And Beta Levi definitely didn’t know what to say to me.

“Thanks for this. I’ll see you back at the packhouse.” Alpha Logan said.

“Okay. Penelope and her uncle are there waiting for you.” Beta Levi said, before he left.

“You better not keep your girlfriend waiting.” I said.

“I don’t care about that right now. I don’t want to see you with Cooper again, otherwise something really unfortunate might happen to him.” Alpha Logan threatened.

“You can’t threaten him. He doesn’t even know who I am to you.” I said.

“That doesn’t matter, You know who you are to me. So, you make sure that it doesn’t happen again.” He said, turning and leaving.

“Fucking dick.” I said to myself.

I got up to have a look in the fridge and cupboards and I realized that there was absolutely no food in the house. And I pulled out a jar for the household account and there was no money in it either. It had all been spent.

Mom didn’t get paid for another couple of days and even then, most of it was going to go on bills and I wasn’t sure when I was getting paid at all. I knew that I was hungry, but there wasn’t anything I could do if we had no food or

money.

I wasn’t a thief and I wasn’t going to start now. I was just gonna have to live with it until we had money to buy

groceries.

I knew that mom would definitely buy a little bit of food when she got paid. Before she paid all the bills. She always did.

I looked out the window again and the warrior was still standing outside the window watching me.

It wasn’t making me nervous, just pissed off. He doesn’t want anyone to know about me, but he’s treating me like he owns me. It was starting to drive me insane.

I know where I stand on the issue. Either accept me as his mate, or reject me. It’s that simple. But he won’t do either of those and he’s keeping his girlfriend around.

Was he trying to torture me? I know that he can be a real sadistic bastard but I never thought he’d do something like this.

The following day I got to work at 6am again, and we started unloading the first truck.

The manager was there to oversee everything that we were doing, and I noticed him watching every move I made.

The manager had to be in his early 30’s, at least. And for human standards, he would have been pretty attractive. For werewolf standards, he really wasn’t attractive at all. At least not to me.

I got straight to work and he went back to his office for a while, but he didn’t stay there.

All the other workers noticed that he was out in the warehouse with us, but he was just leaning against a wall with a clipboard.
