The Omega and The Arrogant Alpha (by Kylie) novel Chapter 197

Ezra and I knew that whoever was left of that base would be scouring the forest, looking for us and our warriors.

We were getting messages through the night letting us know that they were all safe and got to their destinations safely.

None of us went back to the pack. We went to the nearest packs that the Hunters didn’t know about.

But by the time the sun started coming up, we started walking through the forest again.

We were on guard the whole time because we weren’t sure how far those soldiers would have followed us and we didn’t know how far they were willing to follow us now that Stevens was dead. It was possible that they went somewhere else to regroup.

But if there was another base, we needed to find out where it was. And I was already aware that Savannah didn’t know where any other bases were.

I would have to ask Izzy about that when I saw her again.

They would be coming at us with a vengeance after this.

I don’t really blame them. But for them, it’s revenge. For us, it’s survival. It always has been. They’ve been after us for years. Even since before Logan died. They were trying to set him up, which is why he was sure that I was the one that killed him. So I would inherit his pack. Not anyone else.

We walked through the forest for about four hours before we came to a dirt road and found a car parked off to the side hidden behind a heap of tree branches.

We pulled the branches off of the car and we got in and Ezra started it up and we started driving down the dirt road until we got to the highway.

I was looking around everywhere but there was no sign of the army or Hunters anywhere.

“They’re regrouping.” I said.

“Yeah. At a different location. Who knows how many Hunters they have there.” Ezra said.

“Have you heard anything from the Midnight pack yet?” I asked.

“No. Nothing. Only that Ben was able to get Savannah out.” He said.

“Yeah. That’s the only plus to everything so far.” I said.

“I’m just glad that she wanted to leave. I thought it would be a bigger fight.” He said.

“Honestly, so did I. So, why did she come with us so easily?”

“Do you think it’s a trap?”

“I don’t think so. I mean, she shifted and she knows that Ben is her mate. She feels the pull even if she’s not 18 yet. She wouldn’t do anything to hurt him.”

“But you wish she felt the same way about us.” Ezra said.

“Listen, I know that it’s going to take a long time for her to get to know us. I mean, she grew up thinking that her parents threw her away. It’s going to take a long time for her to realize that she was stolen from us.” I explained.

I really did believe it deep down, but I’m not going to lie. It really did hurt that she didn’t recognise us. Especially after all those years that we spent looking for her.

We never stopped. Not even when I had other pups. Not when we had other things to deal with in our pack. Everything was always up in the air and I was starting to believe that we were never going to see her again.

But now, I feel like I’ve gotten my hopes up only for her to reject me.

I didn’t sign up for that. And I don’t think I’m prepared for that.

It took us four more hours to get to the cabin and it was just getting dark when we arrived there.

Ezra parked the car around the back of the cabin and we got out and grabbed our bags out of the backseat.

We walked in the backdoor and Ben was waiting for us.

“It didn’t happen. They had to evacuate.” Ezra said.

I looked at him really weird, wondering why the ambush would have to evacuate.

“What are you talking about?” I asked, confused.

“Well, Justin started planting explosives.” Ezra said.

“Midnight pack is gone?” I asked.

“We don’t know the extent of the damage. But we’re going to find out soon enough.” Ezra said.

“Well, we’ve still got the Night Walker pack.” Ben said.

“It’s not big enough to house all the werewolves that we’ve promised sanctuary to.” Ezra said.

“As long as they’re alive then we’ll figure something out.” I said.

“Stevens is dead. So, this can be a new start for everyone.” Ben said.

“It’s not over. Not while Justin and councilmen Webber are still out there plotting together.”

“But Webber was plotting with Stevens.” Ben said.

“Justin will be more than willing to fill that position if he has to.” Ezra said.

Ben shook his head and he looked over at Savannah. I could tell that all he wanted to do was to protect her from anything that was going to come at her now. But it wasn’t going to be that easy.

We didn’t know much about the Hunters now that we had destroyed their biggest bases. We needed more information before we could make a move on anything.
