The Omega and The Arrogant Alpha (by Kylie) novel Chapter 319

The silence stretches after Ben’s last words, not because anyone believes it resolved anything, but because everyone understands that the next movement will change the shape of the room permanently.

The extraction leader watches me closely now, his posture still formal but his focus sharpened, because resistance did not break the way he expected it to, and uncertainty is more dangerous to procedure than defiance ever is.

I let the moment sit.

I breathe in slowly, counting the rise in my chest, letting the rhythm anchor me the way routine always does when instinct threatens to take over, and I feel my wolf settle into a tense coil rather than a surge, waiting for direction instead of demanding it.

“You want him,” I say finally, my voice even and deliberate, and I step just far enough aside to make space without retreating. “Then you will take him under my conditions.”

The extraction leader blinks once, surprise flickering through his control before he masks it. “You do not have the authority to dictate terms.”

“I do,” I reply calmly, “because if you touch him without them, this stops being compliance and starts being coercion, and you know exactly how that will read once it leaves this room.”

Ben turns his head slightly toward me, just enough for me to feel the tension in him shift, but he does not speak, because he understands what I am doing even if he does not like it.

Sally inhales sharply beside me, then steadies herself, because she sees it too.

The extraction leader hesitates, and that is all the confirmation I need that this is working.

“State your conditions,” he says, clipped and controlled.

“First,” I say, lifting one finger, “he does not leave my sight until he exits this building, and that means no isolated corridors, no sealed transport, and no deviation from the approved internal route.”

“That is inefficient,” he replies.

“So is a public inquiry,” I answer, and his jaw tightens.

“Second,” I continue, “his restraints are symbolic only, and they are visible, removable, and nonrestrictive, because if he cannot move freely then this becomes detention, not escort.”

“That is nonstandard,” he says.

“So is attempting extraction under contested authority,” I reply.

“Third,” I say, and this time I look directly at the rest of the unit, “every member of your team remains identifiable at all times, including body cameras active and unaltered, and any interruption to recording voids compliance immediately.”
