The Omega and The Arrogant Alpha (by Kylie) novel Chapter 345

I wake before dawn again, not because I am rested but because my body has started to anticipate disruption, and the silence feels too clean after days of probing. For a few seconds I lie there staring at the ceiling, listening for anything out of place, and when nothing comes I almost distrust the calm more than the noise.

The bond is steady but alert, like a guard who has not left his post.

Beside me, Landon shifts and pushes himself upright, running a hand through his hair before he even speaks.

“They were quiet through the night,” he says.

“Too quiet?” I ask.

“Possibly.”

I sit up slowly and press my feet to the floor, letting the cool surface anchor me. My shoulders ache faintly from the tension of the last few days, and I roll them once before heading to the bathroom. The shower runs warm and constant, steam curling around me as I wash my hair and let the repetition settle my thoughts into order.

Eastern line. Northern line. Message reroutes. Minor supply inconsistencies.

Someone is mapping us.

When I step out and dress, I choose fitted training clothes again instead of formal attire, because today will not be about meetings, it will be about movement. I braid my hair back tight and study my reflection briefly.

Variables can be tracked.

They can also be unpredictable.

Downstairs, the kitchen is dim and quiet, the scent of coffee already in the air. Landon hands me a mug without speaking, and I lean against the counter beside him while rain dampness still lingers faintly outside, though the sky is clearing.

“I want staggered patrol shifts today,” I say quietly. “No visible pattern.”

He nods once. “Unannounced rotations.”

“Yes. And I want eyes on internal corridors as well as borders.”

He studies me for a second. “You think the next move will be inside.”

“I think the next move will be designed to look like an inside failure,” I reply.

The bond tightens slightly at that, not in fear but in shared recognition.

We finish our coffee in silence, then step out into the morning air. The grounds are waking slowly, wolves moving between buildings, heading to training or morning tasks, unaware that the pattern of their day is about to be adjusted beneath them.

On the training field, I move through drills with deliberate focus, correcting stance, tightening formations, and pushing reaction speed without explaining why. The warriors respond with effort rather than questions, which tells me they feel the pressure too.

Layla joins me midway through a spar, rain dampness still clinging to the earth.
