Chapter 42

They couldn’t have possibly known who she was to me though. That was impossible.

“I think we need to go back to the pack and regroup. To figure out our next move.” A warrior said.

“I’m not going back to the pack. Not until she’s found.” I said, walking back to the highway.

I grabbed the map again and put it on the hood of the car and I figured out where I was.

We’d sped the whole way here, so that’s why I got a little confused. We got here in two and a half hours when it should have taken five.

There was a lot of woods around us, but there was a little town not far from here.

I told everyone to stay here and I took the car and drove into that town.

It was approaching midnight and I knew that it was going to be a long shot. She didn’t have any money or anything. But when I got to the town, I looked for all motels, hotels, B&B’s. Anything that would be able to house her for the night.

I went to all of them where I woke the managers up.

Most of them were upset until they saw how pissed I was and I showed them all a photo of Morgan that I had on my phone. (Morgan didn’t even know that I snuck this photo of her).

They all swore that none of them had seen her. So I started walking along the streets of this town, using a map on my phone as a guide.

Maybe she was sleeping in the park or on a bench somewhere. But then I thought, she was just in a car accident.

I went to the hospital and I showed the front desk nurse a photo of her and I had to lie and say that I was her husband.

But still, that was pointless. She wasn’t there. They hadn’t seen her.

I stormed out of there and almost broke the front door, scaring a few of the locals.

They were human, so they were weak and easily scared.

When I got back to the cars I had to try and think of something else.

I started looking up the nearest wolf packs around here.

We circled the locations on the map and we started hitting them one at a time.

There were four wolf packs within a 100 mile radius of where we are, so we went to them one by one. Waking up their Alpha’s and asking if they had seen Morgan. Was she there asking for asylum? And I wasn’t sure if I should believe them or not when they said no, because Penelope already said it, a lot of Alpha’s hate me. Maybe they wouldn’t tell me the truth.

So I ordered warriors to stay a safe distance away, but to keep an eye on all of those packs.

One of them was Penelope’s uncle. And that was a scary thought.

I don’t know what he would do to Morgan if he got his hands on her.

We went back to Ace’s crashed car, because that is the last place that I was sure she was at. And my cell phone

started ringing again.

“What?” I answered.

“It’s too late Alpha. Penelope’s friend has been giving her information as she was spying on you. Penelope knows about Morgan. And she knows about last night.” Levi explained.

“We can’t command Penelope to tell us what she knows about Morgan because she has Alpha blood in her. Our commands won’t work on her.” I said.

“I know.” Levi said.

“I just spoke with her uncle. I told him that I was looking for an escaped Omega who was on trial. He said that he hadn’t seen Morgan. But Penelope tells that son of a bitch everything.” I said.

“Do you think he has her?” Levi asked.

“I don’t know. Let the pack know that I’m not coming back. At least not yet.” I said.

“Where are you going to stay?” Levi asked.

“That’s my problem. And make sure there’s a guard watching Penelope at all times. And her friends. I don’t trust any of those tramps.” I ordered.

“Yes, sir.” He said. So I hung up the phone and I stood in the middle of the highway, looking straight out into the darkened woods.
