Chapter 67
I was sitting outside having my coffee that morning while I was looking over my school schedule for the day.
“You’re going to be exhausted.” Nathan said.
“Tell me about it. There’s nothing I can do about it though.” I said.
“Yeah. I know.” He said.
“How come you couldn’t find the guy last night? You couldn’t pick up a scent?” I asked.
“That’s what we thought was really strange as well. There was no scent to follow.” He said.
“How the hell is that possible?” I asked. 1
“Well, Jax said that he didn’t recognise the guy. But it’s a big pack. It’s a little unusual that he still didn’t recognise him since Jax has been here his whole life. Still, it could have been a stealth warrior. They know how to hide their scent.” Nathan explained.
“What the hell would a stealth warrior want with me?” I asked.
“I don’t know. That’s what we’re going to find out today. You just go to school, make sure that you’re not around here while we’re investigating.” He said.
“Alright. Is it going to get that bad? I don’t want people making a huge fuss over me.” I said.
“It’s not just you. I mean, Ezra and I do want to keep you safe. But someone broke into the packhouse last night. They can’t get away with doing shit like that.” He said.
“Yeah. You’re right. Sorry. I wasn’t thinking of it like that.” I said.
“Just do what you have to do today. Ezra is meeting with his Beta now and we’ll get it all sorted out.” He said.
“Alright. No worries.” I said.
When I went back upstairs, I went into my room and I had a shower and I got dressed for school.
When I walked out of the bathroom I was brushing my hair and I started packing a few things into my bag and I sat at the desk looking out the window.
I grabbed my phone and I called my mother’s phone.
“Hello.” She whispered.
“Mom. Is that you?” I asked.
“Yeah. I can’t really talk right now.” She said.
“What’s going on?” I asked.
“It’s nothing you need to worry about. I’m fine and that’s all you need to know.” She said.
“Are you sure?” I asked.
“Positive. Please. I have to go.” She said, hanging up.
Alright, my mother has never sounded like that before. I knew that something was going on. So I grabbed my bag and I went downstairs.

“Ezra.” I said, going into the dining room.
“What is it?” He asked.
“I know that you’ve got a lot on your plate at the moment. But would you be able to call that contact of yours in Logan’s pack?” I asked.
“Sure. What am I asking?” He asked.
“Ask them about my mother. I just tried to call her and she basically told me never to call back. She would never say that to me. Can you find out what’s going on?” I asked.
“Sure. I’ll get on to my contact today.” (1
“Do you think she’s just trying to protect you?” Nathan asked.
“Probably. But I don’t care. I need to know what’s going on. If she’s in trouble or not.” I said.
“Morgan. We’ve gotta go.” Jax said, coming into the dining room.
“Please Ezra? I’ve got a really bad feeling about this.” I said.
“I’ll get onto them straight away.” He said.
“And can you let me know as soon as you do?” I asked.
“Sure.” He said. And I left the house with Jax.
