“Have we gotten any more updates on Dutton?” Robin asks Ezra. We’re on yet another conference call. It feels like we’re having them every few hours and I guess we are. Once we got notification that Dutton had infiltrated Alpha Alexandra’s pack, we knew things were going to start happening fast. Tiffany and Tammi arrived in Robin’s pack two nights ago but after Dutton’s warriors contacted Ezra, we haven’t heard anything.

“I haven’t heard any more. I sent some of my warriors to find his, but his warriors haven’t heard anymore from Dutton either,” Ezra says.

“How long do we wait before we go get him?” Hunter asks.

“We don’t want to wait too long,” Miles says.

“But we don’t want to show our hand and potentially put Dutton at risk if he’s just being careful,” Kayce says.

“Shit! Tiffany is in labor. I’ve got to go,” he says, reaching to disconnect from the video call.

“Is Dr. Caspian there?” Amelia asks quickly.

“Yes,” he says, just before disconnecting.

“I’m sure we’ll get an update on our next call,” Lucas says.

“Does anyone know if Robin has gotten any more information on this Remington fellow?” Jake

asks.

“He’s been focused on the twins, so I took this on for him. I’m still searching but so far, I haven’t found any ranked pack members with the name Remington, first or last name because it sounds like the kind of name that could have been a last name and someone just took it on as their only name,” Kayce says. “And actually, Allison had a great idea to follow the money, rather than searching for rank. I smile. Yeah, she is. I’m about to say that when we all hear the howl of alarm go up over the video call. Ezra’s head snaps to the side.

“They’re here! I’ve got to go!” He doesn’t bother ending the call, he leaps and shifts, racing out of his office.

“I need to go secure my borders,” I say.

“Me too. Between the two of us, let’s make sure Robin’s borders are protected too,” Kayce says.

“Will do,” I say, hanging up and quickly mind linking my warriors.

‘Attention everyone! Alpha Ezra’s pack just went on alert for an attack. We believe that Alpha Dutton has gotten the Alpha female, Alexandra, he went to rescue. All warriors report for patrol duty. Alpha Robin is dealing with Luna Tiffany who went into early labor. I’m going over there the make sure his patrols are doing what we’re doing. I strip quickly and shift, letting Sid rush to the border. Once there, I stop and shift again, needing to speak to Amelia’s warriors in human form. I tell them what I just told my warriors before continuing on to Robin’s pack.

I give them the same message, hearing the howls go up around the pack to mobilize the warriors.

“Let Robin know that I’m here and can lead if he’s needed in the hospital,” I tell them.

I make sure the patrols are set and I turn, ready to shift and let Sid take us back to our pack when the patrols at the edge of mine and Robin’s packs begin to howl the alarm.

I rush past the borders, ready to meet Dutton and Alpha Alexandra, who is probably not in good shape, given what we know about her family.

Ahead, I see Orion, Dutton’s wolf, pushing two other wolves ahead of him. His warriors are behind and around them, creating a protective barrier around the two wolves as the others come chasing after them.

‘Get them inside our pack lands!’ I shout to my warriors as I race past them, ready to take on their

pursuers.

Just as I pass them, I smell the most intoxicating scent of light floral underlined with the clean earthy scent of vetiver.

‘Mate!’ Sid says. I whip my head around and lock eyes with her, Alpha Alexandra. Her eyes are wide and terrified as she races past.

I shake my head trying to refocus as Dutton turns, ready to fight beside me. I hear Derric, Robin’s wolf, coming up behind us and behind that, I hear another Alpha wolf. That must be Rodion, Kayce’s wolf.

As Dutton’s warriors race past, I see that there are three Alphas chasing them. They’ve brought warriors from two packs, but we now have warriors from four packs, mine, Robin’s, Kayce’s, and Amelia’s.

They stop, shifting and panting from their long run.

“That is my mate, you can’t steal her from me,” the one Alpha says.

Sid snarls and I shift, my claws and canines remaining extended. This asshole thinks he can take what’s mine? I don’t think so.

“I’m Alpha Reese and it doesn’t seem as though Alpha Alexandra wants to be mated to you. I doubt any woman SOLD by her family wants to belong to a man who purchased her like chattel!” I snarl.

I can see the shock on his face, on all their faces, that we know about how he became Alexandra’s ‘mate’.

“As you can see, you’re outnumbered here. I suggest you turn around and go back home before we kill you and all of our warriors,” Robin snarls.

“You can’t keep my daughter. She’s not your prisoner,” the man who must be Alpha Alexander

says.

“No, we don’t imprison people here in the north. Apparently, that only happens in the southern packs, like yours,” Kayce says, just as Ezra and his warriors come racing up behind them.

“Do you really plan on fighting five different Alphas, and five different packs? You will lose. This is your last chance to turn around and go back home,” Dutton says to them. He’s still breathing heavily. I’m guessing they ran full out all the way from Alpha Alexander’s pack.

“This isn’t over,” the younger Alpha says. I’m guessing that’s Alpha Aaron. “Do you hear that, Alex? This isn’t over!” he shouts, trying to look past us to where his sister is. I snarl again.

He bares his teeth at me before howling his retreat and turning to leave with his pack. Alpha Alexander follows his son, but Alpha Warrick stays a moment longer.
