"I... already took a bite of that."

Miles shot her a cool, sideways glance, totally unfazed.

"We've already kissed. What's the difference?"

The car sped down the highway as Claire, clutching a bag of potato chips, tilted her head to the side and fell into a deep sleep.

At the next rest stop, Miles parked the car. He gently slid a travel pillow behind her neck, adjusted her seat to a more comfortable angle, and draped a soft blanket over her.

A faint smile tugged at the corner of Miles's lips. He pulled out his phone, snapped a photo of the view outside the passenger window, and uploaded it to social media.

The caption read: [Sunny days]. Then, he went back to focusing on the road.

In less than five minutes, Miles's social media feed exploded.

Finn Zorn: [? You posting on social media? A once-in-a-century miracle. I thought your account was just for decoration.]

Intern A: [Dr. Zimmerman took a three-day leave. I guess he went on a road trip.]

Head Nurse: [Looks like Dr. Zimmerman is officially off the market!]

Jared: [!! Why is there food in your car?! The last time I was starving and ate a single cracker in your passenger seat, you stared daggers at me for three days! Is this fair? Is this justice?!]

...

Inside the design department of Sterling Holdings.

Yvonne saw the post from Miles and froze.

Sensing something was off, she immediately zoomed in on the picture.

In the bottom right corner, there was a hand. A woman's hand.

Yvonne scrutinized every inch of it, her eyes narrowed in suspicion.

That hand gave her an overwhelmingly intense feeling of familiarity. Where had she seen it before?

Just as she was wracking her brain, Jefferson walked past, breaking her concentration.

The man had his suit jacket slung casually over his arm. He wore no tie, and his top two shirt buttons were undone, exuding a careless, lethargic arrogance.

"Jefferson, where are you going? We have the quarterly review in an hour. You need to be there."

"We have to finalize the acquisition details for OCHH Luxury."

Yvonne rushed forward, grabbing his arm.

A flicker of pure impatience crossed Jefferson's eyes. He smoothly pulled out of her grip, his tone freezing cold.

"You're the Director of the design department now. Push the project forward yourself."

Yvonne bit her lip, playing the damsel. "But an investment this massive... I can't make the final call..."

Jefferson gave her a sideways glance, the suffocating irritation in his chest growing heavier.
