The One I Should've Married (Stella and Sebastian) novel Chapter 14

"Mom..."

"Shut up!"

Julian wanted to protect Ivy. Now that Vivienne had shifted the blame, Arthur was bound to target the Sloanes.

Ivy's life in that family was already hard enough.

And since he couldn't give Ivy a proper title, there was no way to get her out of that toxic household.

Every time he thought about how she was treated, it broke his heart.

Vivienne shot Julian a withering glare.

She then turned back to Arthur. "You really can't blame Julian for this. You know how soft-hearted he's been since he was a boy. Plus, the Sloane girl is sick. Julian just let his guard down for a moment, and she took advantage of it."

Vivienne flawlessly pinned the entire mess onto Ivy.

Sure enough, Arthur's expression grew even darker.

He looked at Lawrence. "Have a word with the head of the Sloanes. Ask him why he can't seem to control his own daughter!"

Lawrence nodded. "Yes, Grandfather."

"Grandfather—" "I told you to shut up!" Vivienne sharply pinched Julian's side before he could finish.

The sharp pain made Julian swallow his words.

Eleanor frowned at Julian. "What exactly happened between you and Stella today?"

The drastic change in her demeanor felt almost supernatural.

Sure, she had been arrogant three years ago, but after marrying into the family, she had been quiet, dutiful, and well-behaved.

And now this whole mess...

She hadn't even spared Eleanor from her humiliation.

Just thinking about it made Eleanor so furious she chucked her priceless emerald rosary aside.

Hearing Eleanor ask about the altercation again, Julian fell into a sullen silence.
