Hearing her claim that she would soon take over the Channing Group, Lawrence gave her a disdainful look.
"Then we'll talk when that day comes."
Stella fired back, "Whether I run the company or not, that five hundred million must be returned to me immediately."
So they couldn't terminate the projects right away? Fine. She'd get her money back first.
Hearing her bring up the money again,
the room fell into dark silence once more. "The money was borrowed from the Channing Group, not from you," Lawrence stated.
Stella paused.
The Channings. Hah!
She knew exactly what Lawrence meant.
That parasite soul wasn't entirely stupid, but it was still remarkably foolish.
Three years ago, the promissory note the Sinclairs signed stated they were borrowing from the Channing Group, not Stella Channing herself.
Stella didn't panic in the slightest. "I see. So you have no intention of paying it back?"
Seeing her complete lack of panic, Lawrence felt a twinge of unease.
But he kept up a strong front. "Even if we pay it back, it will be to the company, not to you!"
Noticing his stubborn resistance,
Stella raised an eyebrow and nodded. "Perfect."
They refused to listen to reason? Then it was time to get unreasonable.
She stood up and looked straight at Lawrence. "Remember what you just said. I'm giving you a chance to pay it back now. Since you don't want it..."
Then what?
Stella didn't finish the sentence.
But her meaning was crystal clear. If they refused to pay it back the easy way, she'd get it back her way.
...
Stella left.
Vivienne's heart hammered in her chest, especially when she saw the elders and Lawrence shoot Julian a murderous glare.
