After a lot of sweet-talking.
She finally begged Sebastian into letting her go. The moment she walked downstairs, Felicia called.
"Ms. Channing, Beatrice was taken from the airport to a villa by Penelope Fitzgerald's men last night," Felicia reported over the phone.
"When she finally came out, her face was completely swollen, she was covered in bruises, and all her money had been confiscated!"
Hearing this, Stella let out a knowing chuckle.
She wasn't surprised by this outcome in the slightest.
"Penelope might spend her days praying to Buddha, but on the days she puts down her beads, she's the last person anyone should mess with!"
Beatrice actually dared to provoke a woman like that.
Had she really never heard the terrifying rumors about Penelope's younger days, or what?!
"Moving forward, Beatrice's financial lifelines are completely severed," Felicia added.
She actually had the nerve to ask Silas Fitzgerald for money!
And now, Penelope had snatched every last cent back.
Don't let the Fitzgerald family's massive wealth fool you; Penelope was notoriously stingy.
Even back when Beatrice and Silas were having their little affair, she had never managed to squeeze a dime out of him.
All the family's finances were firmly controlled by Penelope!
Any woman on the outside couldn't even dream of touching a single dollar.
And despite all that...
Beatrice had somehow managed to extract thousands of dollars from Silas this time. Of course that was going to make Penelope stop praying for a day.
"Good riddance. She's always trying to find crooked ways to make a buck. Why should she get to spend that money?"
Stella exchanged a few more words with Felicia before hanging up.
The moment the call ended.
Asher's call came through. "Ms. Channing, Penelope Fitzgerald wants to meet with you."
Stella raised an eyebrow.
Asher asked, "Will you see her?"
"Have her wait for me at the office."
This Penelope Fitzgerald was a woman of serious means. Stella appreciated an opponent with actual brains.
Lately, dealing with the Channings and the Sinclairs had been far too boring!
...
After breakfast.
Stella headed straight to the office.
Asher was already waiting for her. Seeing her step out of the car, he approached respectfully. "Ms. Channing."
"Is Penelope here?"
Stella glanced at the Maybach parked a short distance from the building's entrance.
Asher nodded. "She's waiting for you in the reception room."
Stella hummed in acknowledgment and walked straight into the building. As she passed the front desk, she noticed nothing but unfamiliar faces.
She raised an eyebrow. "Everyone was replaced?"
