The Pack's Hacker (by Cooper) novel Chapter 34

Wendy

Watching my boyfriend with his nieces and nephews shouldn’t be this impactful, but it is. I’ve seen Connor, Quirin, and Yorick with their own pups and seen my family interact with pups for years. But somehow, watching my boyfriend interact with his niece and nephew makes me desperately want a pup – like spontaneous ovulation desperation. 1

“Oh my goddess, you are so perfect for our brother,” Isobel says. Then she looks at her sisters. “Am I right?”

“So right!” Caitlin says.

“We were worried we wouldn’t like his girlfriend, but here you are – perfect!” Kira says.

I smile. “I was so worried about meeting all of you too, but Jude was right. He said his family was just like mine and I’d fit right in and here you are, just like my sisters.”

“Believe me, I would warn you if my brother wasn’t perfect, but yeah, Jude is an amazing brother. We were all so sad when he went across the country to go to the East Coast Academy. I wish we could see him more often. I mean, we love Riley, he’s a great brother, but Jude …” Isobel says.

“Jude isn’t our Alpha. With him, it isn’t like having another father. He’s a big brother, someone you can love, trust, and you know will always have your back, without worrying that he’ll rain hellfire on any man who looks at you wrong, like Riley will,” Caitlin says.

“I know exactly what you mean. I adore my oldest brother, Connor. But if I had a secret, I would never tell him. Yorick, my second brother, used to be my go-to for secrets, but now he’s an Alpha of his own pack and I have to be careful of what I tell him. Being an Alpha changes things.”

“Yeah, it does,” Isobel says.

Jude’s sisters take me around the packhouse, introducing me to everyone. I realize that everything feels comfortable because their packhouse is very similar to Connor’s and Yorick’s. Quirin’s has a different feel to it, because, well, it’s Quirin and they are rogues. But overall, everything in Riley’s pack feels familiar and comforting.

“Hey, who’s the pretty, new she-wolf,” someone asks, walking up.

“She’s Jude’s girlfriend, Tyler, so back off,” Isobel says protectively.

“Alpha Jude is pretty easy-going, I doubt he’d mind if I flirted a little. It’s not like they’re mates, right?” Tyler says. “Wendy isn’t eighteen yet, Tyler, so they don’t know,” Caitlin says.

I can’t tell if they don’t like this guy or if they’re being protective of their brother’s girlfriend, but either way, I’m not interested in causing problems.

“Wendy, is it?” he asks, extending his hand.

“Alpha Wendy, Tyler,” I say, stressing my title and ignoring his hand. I have no idea who this guy is, but he’s ignoring the Alpha family and that irritates me. It’s disrespectful. “And you heard his sisters, Jude wouldn’t want you flirting with me.” He grins as if I’ve just laid down a challenge.

“Alpha Wendy, welcome to our pack. How long are you staying?” he asks.

“Jude and I will be here for a week,” I say, again acknowledging that I’m here with Jude.

“Well then, I’m sure I’ll see you around,” he says before winking and walking off.

The four of us watch him go.

“Manwhore,” Kira growls.

“He’s not going to let up. It’s a shame, every pack seems to have one,” Caitlin says.

“Yeah, he just wants to get in your pants, Wendy,” Isobel says.

“Well, my he won’t find my pants welcoming,” I say.

All three sisters look at me, then burst into laughter. “Oh, you are so perfect!”

They finish showing me around the packhouse, introducing me to so many people that I’ll never remember all their names, then show me my room on the Alpha floor. Finally, they bring me back downstairs.

As soon as I see Jude, I smile. He walks over and pulls me into a hug.

“Well, did she pass?” he asks. I look up and realize he’s talking to his sisters.

“With flying colors,” Isobel says.

“She’s awesome,” Kira says.

“We’re adopting her,” Caitlin says.

I laugh as Jude looks at me. “And did they pass?”

“You were right. They’re like an extension of my family.”

“Good. Now we can all have a fun week and stop worrying,” he says, grinning.

“She met Tyler,” Isobel says.

If he weren’t hugging me but probably would have missed the slight tensing of his body.

“And?”

“You know how Tyler is,” Isobel says.

“He seems to think you’re a pushover and wouldn’t mind him flirting with your girlfriend,” Caitlin says.

Yeah, they not only don’t like Tyler, but they also didn’t appreciate him flirting with their brother’s girlfriend.

“Don’t worry, Jude. I can handle him,” I tell him.

“Hmm,” he says, noncommittally.
