Dallas
While my mother helps me to get Philip settled on the bed holding Nicolette’s hand, Lunas Kennedy and Yara do whatever they need to do to pull my mate out of her medically induced coma. They talk softly while my mother distracts Philip, and I stare at my mate. I’m hopeful that she’ll remain calm when she wakes since Philip is right here.
I reach out and lay my hand on her arm, gently rubbing my thumb over her skin.
Just as Philip asks for the twentieth time when she’s going to wake up, I see her eyes begin to flutter.
“Lunas,” I say, watching Nicolette closely.
She moans softly, looking like she’s struggling to open her eyes as Luna Yara comes over.
“Mom!”
“Philip,” she croaks, still struggling to open her eyes.
“Give your mother a moment, Philip. She’s been asleep for a long time,” my mother says.
“Where am I?” she asks, beginning to cough.
“Here, Luna. Drink this,” Luna Kennedy says, putting a straw to Nicolette’s lips.”Thank you,” she says, after taking a deep sip. “Where am I?”
“You’re in Alpha Henry’s pack, Luna. Do you remember what happened?” Luna Yara asks her.
She turns her head, looking at Philip. It’s okay, Mommy.
They’re very nice,” he says reassuringly.
She reaches up to cup his face, trying to smile. He lays down on her chest.
“I was so worried about you,” he whispers.
*I’m okay, baby. Now that I know you’re safe, I’m okay,” she says, looking at Luna Yara, then Luna Kennedy, then my mother, then me. When she gets to me, she frowns. “I only recognize one of you. You’re Luna Kennedy, right?”
“Yes, Luna. What do you remember?” Kennedy says, switching places with Yara. It’s obvious the two of them have worked together for years. They move around each other without having to talk.
“I rejected Patrick. That Alpha, Piper, I think, forced him to accept it. I remember driving in a van, but not much more than that.”
“How is your wolf?” Kennedy asks her.
“Silent.”
“That’s to be expected and is most likely temporary. I put you in a medically induced coma when you become upset
about your son before. Then, I called my mother who has more extensive knowledge of medicine, and I waited until she arrived to bring you out of your coma.”
She nods, looking exhausted.
“Have you been behaving yourself, Philip?” she asks him.
“Yes. Dallas has been taking care of me. Right, Dallas?” he asks, sitting up and looking at me.
“That’s right,” I say, watching Nicolette.
She gives me an assessing look, then looks at Philip. ” Where did you get those clothes, Philip?”
