The Pack's Luna: The Pack Series Book 4 novel Chapter 373

Vivienne

We’re having another meeting with Alpha Quirin, Luna Kennedy, and my team that will go out on the streets Monday night to try and find these she-wolves who need help. When Luna Kennedy asked me about the medical centers for women on the streets, I laughed.

” wouldn’t call them medical centers, Luna. If your idea of those facilities is anything close to a pack hospital, then you are sorely mistaken. Those places are lucky to find the instruments needed to care for pregnant women or treat the injuries that their abusers cause them. Sterilization is boiled water that never gets as clear as it should, and discarded bars or containers of liquid soap found in trashcans. If we were lucky, we would find expired bottles of alcohol or peroxide, but that was pretty rare.”

She was appalled. “How has the council not stepped in before this?”

I’d merely shrug. “No one cares about the people living on the streets, Luna. We cared for each other as best we could, but it wasn’t enough. None of us were strong enough to fight against the men and sometimes women who would buy, sell, abuse, and murder us.”

“Absolutely not, Kennedy,” Alpha Quirin had snarls, making everyone in the room flinch except our Luna.

“But Quirin, those people need help!””You are pregnant with my pup. You are NOT going out oR those streets. I refuse, Kennedy! We are sending a team of people out to help them. If they choose to join our pack, or at least come here to see that our pack is different, you can treat them. You are NOT going out on the streets to do it.”

The aura in the room became oppressive. Everyone began sweating and shifting uncomfortably in our seats except for Luna Kennedy. I’m always impressed with the strength that she has. It’s easy to forget because she’s so kind and loving. But she’s the only one I’ve ever seen who can and will stand toe to toe against Alpha Quirin. On the very rare occasion that they argue, she usually wins. But not this time. She must have realized that he would never back down on this. Her shoulders had finally slumped in defeat.

“Fine, but I’m treating every single one of them that comes in, Quirin.”

“I have no problem with that, as long as you’ll allow a guard in the room. I won’t risk you, Kennedy, not even to save someone else’s life.”

In this, I wholeheartedly agree with Alpha Quirin. Luna

Kennedy has no idea how ugly life is on the streets. Even I want to protect my sweet Luna from the horrors of what occurs out there. As strong as she is, the streets are too harsh for someone who has led the sheltered life that she has.

Now, apparently, Luna Yara wants to talk to me to find outmore about the medical treatment, or lack thereof, for these rogues and lone wolves. I made sure that Alpha Quirin contacted Alpha Warren. I have no doubt that Luna Kennedy is tike her mother, which means that Luna Yara will also want to go out on the streets to help these she-wolves and their pups. But it’s not safe for her to go alone either.

My team of five was going to leave this weekend, but once Gavin said he wanted to come visit me, I decided to wait.

I’m nervous as fuck to see him again. According to Alpha Quirin, he’s more nervous than I am, but I doubt that. I have no idea what to expect from him. Will he be angry, like Piper was? Will he be hurt? Will he tell me that he hates it that I’m his half-sister? Is he going to call me a slut for prostituting myself to stay alive on the streets? Is he going to want a hug or a fight? I just have no idea what to expect.

According to Luna Kennedy, Luna Yara will be accompanying him to the pack. Tomorrow she’ll head to Alpha Yorick and Alpha Cyra’s pack since that’s where Alpha Warren is, and she’s been away from him for several days now. Based on everything I’ve heard, Gavin is quite taken with Luna Yara. I’ve met her a couple of times myself. Each time, she makes me ache to see my own mother again, so I understand the pull to her.

It’s just before dinner time when Alpha Quirin mind links me that Gavin and Luna Yara have arrived. Nausea roils in my stomach, and bile rises in my throat, but | swallow itdown. I’ve faced johns who wanted to do every kinky, creepy, disgusting thing to and with me, but the thought of facing my half-brother terrifies me so much more than that ever did.
