Chapter 108
Olivia’s POV-
Daniel has been incredible. He has been my rock. The rest of the day we were stuck beside Mike, helping him plan and prepare for tonight. Katie hadn’t come out of her room once. Beth had gone in and had made sure she ate something, but Beth told me that Katie says she didn’t want to be here anymore. Honestly, I can understand why. Her dad and brother shielded her too much from this life. Mike and Katie lost their mother because of this life. Their dad wanted to keep Katie as far as he could from this life, so she had a
way out.
Before I went to get changed into all black for Mike’s dad’s funeral, I stopped by Katie’s room and knocked on her door. She grumbled something that I couldn’t quite hear through the door. So, I pushed her door open and entered her room. “Oh, it’s you, Olivia.”
“Yeah, it’s just me. I had some free time and wanted to come and check on you,” I said, as I perched on
the end of her bed.
“I just can’t believe he is gone. Did he say anything in his final moments? Did he know that I loved him? Was he proud of me? Should I do what he always wanted me to do?” The words spilled out of her mouth so fast it was clear that she was panicking about it all. I am glad she felt comfortable enough with me to be able to word vomit all her feelings. Apparently, Beth has not had much luck in getting anything out of
her.
“He made me promise to make sure you and your brother lead happy lives and find love, real love like what Carnage and I have. He was proud of you, and he loved you. Even in his last moments, he was focused on you and your brother. I just hate I couldn’t do more to save him,” I said.
“Would you hate me if I went to a boarding school and got away from this life?” Katie asked.
I pulled her into my arms and said, “Never, ever in my life would I hate you for that. Just promise me that you will keep in touch with me, or I will track you down. And if you ever get into trouble, you come back to us because we will always be your family, and we will always help you.”
“I just don’t know whether to be happy or sad. I just don’t know how to feel,” she said.
“One step at a time. For now, mourn your father. Tell your brother your decision and then we will get you
there. Just focus on one thing at a time, it’s how I dealt with what I went through, how I am still dealing
with what I have been through,” I sighed.
“What happened to you?” she asked, curiously.
I am assuming that she doesn’t know what I went through. Only that Vargas was hurt, her dad was dead. but I was safe. “Vargas nearly r***d me, he tore my T–shirt open, his disgusting lips were all over my torso. and my pants were around my ankles. He only had to take off my bra and panties, force my legs open, and then he would have been able to… to…” I choked, the words getting caught in my throat
Katie’s hand shot up to cover her mouth. I took a deep breath and continued, “Carnage and Mike got there on time. Carnage stabbed his blade into Vargas‘ spine, severing it. But Vargas escaped.”
“At the very least, he is going to be paralyzed. I hope he dies from his injuries,” Katie said.
Chapter 108-
nodded, “Me too. Mike has got everything ready. He is leaving it up to you on whether you ride your own bike, ride on the back of his, or sit in the SUV with the pregnant old ladies and the young children.”
“I think I might sit in the SUV. What about you?” she asked.
“Well, I don’t trust myself not to cry while trying to ride my bike, so I am going to backpack on Carnage’s bike with him. I don’t want to be away from him for too long at the moment. He doesn’t like me being out of his sight for too long either. We have been stuck at the hip all day. Being here with you is the first time we have been away from each other, though I suspect he is probably outside,” I responded.
“That really wouldn’t surprise me. He has always been extremely protective of those he loves or those he considers family,” Katie sighed, before looking away and continuing, “t will ride in the SUV. Like you said, I don’t trust myself to ride a bike safely right now.”
“I will let Mike know for you. I will head to get changed. Let me know when you are ready, and I will come meet you with Carnage,” I told her.
She nodded, “I will get showered and dressed.”
I pulled her in for a hug and whispered, “You will get through this. You will.”
She nodded, and we parted ways. I left her room to find Carnage and Mike both leaning against the walls on either side of the corridor, so that they were facing each other, quietly talking to each other. They stopped when they saw me. “What were you two talking about?” I asked, suspicious of how silent they became when I came out.
“We were discussing the future. I am going to drop out of high school, so I can focus on being president here. Carnage’s dad wants him to finish high school, and then Carnage will be my VP. I know you need to go to college, because of the company that Gold owns,” Mike replied.
“I was telling Mike how I would be dropping you off to college and picking you up every day without argument, because I need everyone to know that you are off the market,” Daniel said.
I giggled, “Off the market. Handsome, one look at you from anyone at that college, and all the women will be drawling over you, shooting me death glares because you are mine. Then all the men, well, frat boys will look at you and run away. So, you really do not need to worry so much.”
Mike smirked, a half–hearted chuckle slipping from his lips. He clearly didn’t want to laugh or chuckle, but seeing the interaction between me and Daniel, clearly made him want to laugh. But with what happened yesterday, he feels like he shouldn’t.
“As long as they run away and stay away from you, I can live with that. As for the women, say it again, say! am yours,” Daniel growled, pulling me into his arms.
I raised an eyebrow at him, and purred, “You are mine.”
Daniel groaned, resting his head against mine. Mike groaned rubbing his brow,” I am going to feel like major third wheel around you two.”
I chuckled, “We will try to keep the lovey–dovey stuff to the minimum when we have to meet for club business.”
