Chapter 51
Olivia’s POV
I marched straight into church to find my dad wailing on Pete. Blow after devastating blow, pummeling Pete into the wall. I stepped through the mass of Knights, causing one of the guys to call out to my father, so that he knew I was there in the room. Dad stopped, and turned to look at me. “What are you doing, princess? Go home please,” he said, stepping towards me.
I folded my arms across my chest, as my eyes narrowed on my father. We ended up in a stare-down. Neither of us were going to yield on this. He wanted me elsewhere, so I did not have to see Pete, but I,
ì however, wanted to face him, I needed to face him.
A groan broke us from the stare-down. We turned slowly to see Pete sitting up, as he whispered, “Well, if it isn’t the little bunny, have you come to see me? I knew that was why you hid away from me. You like me, don’t you?”
“You don’t get to fucking talk to her,” Dad hissed.
“Then why is she here? I thought you men would have scurried her away and kept her hidden from me,” Pete winced.
“I am here, because I want to be. None of them would stop me from witnessing you get beaten to death,” I sighed, knowing Dad would get the message.
Pete chuckled, “The little bunny has finally found her voice. I think that is the first time I have ever heard you speak to me.”
“My name is Queenie. Not bunny. You know your brother was a coward, and his emails were really easy to hack into. I read everything and I know everything. I have to admit you have more balls than your brother. You had to have known this was a suicide mission, and given how well you tried to disappear. It left me wondering why. So before they beat you to death for all those things you wrote and planned to do in your sss with Harry, why don’t you tell us why you came here?” My voice steady, as I stepped to my dad’s side, staring down at the beaten pulp that was Pete.
୮
Dad thankfully didn’t intervene. I guess he realized why I was asking. It was important for us to know. Why, after trying to disappear he would come here knowing full well one man was not going to get close enough to me to be able to do anything?
“Then you know how much i have desired you,” he said, his eyes roaming my body.
Daniel growled, stepping in front of me, “Look at her like that again, and you will lose an eye.”
“Well, Carnage, how about you take his eye, if he doesn’t start telling me what I want to know,” I said, my
eyes never leaving Pete.
At the corner of my eye, I saw Daniel smirk, pulling a switchblade from his pocket. He didn’t even miss a beat. None of them did, masking their surprise and perhaps shock at my words. Pete’s eyes darted from
the blade to me and then back. “Harry never said you were like this. He said you were quiet and timid,” Pete gulped, his voice barely above a whisper.
“Nothing more than a mask I wore well, I sighed.
“Answer her damn question,” Dad growled. I am glad he finally saw where I was going with this.
Pete sighed, “I went into hiding the moment Harry got arrested. I was just going to disappear. You would have never seen me again. Especially after I found out that the men that were in the hospital room with you were members of the Phoenix Knights. I am not stupid, I know the shit you guys have done and are prepared to do, especially when one of your own is threatened. How Harry never knew that you were the daughter of a ranked member here is beyond me, he is truly an idiot.”
“Yes, yes, get to the bit about why you came here,” I said, in a bored tone.
“Vargas. I knew he would be searching for me the moment Harry got arrested. That is why I went into hiding. Vargas knew more than I gave him credit for as well. He knew about the special relationship I had with your mother. A few days after your court date, where your biological father got custody of you, she started trying to contact me all the ways she knew how to. I ignored them all. But I saw some of the messages, I made your mother pregnant. Then a couple of days ago, I mistakenly answered an unknown number on my new burner phone. Vargas found your mother. He had her for a few hours before finally calling me. In that time, he had let his men r**e her and beat her. I had to find you, or he would kill her. He told me to kidnap you and bring you to him, or he will do far worse to your mother,” he finally said.
Well, that explains the suicide mission, but do we believe it? My mother is a notorious liar, how can I trust anything she says? But what about this relationship? She used to make me hide away every time he came to visit. He only ever came to visit when Harry was home, as far as I knew. I had to know what was going on in my dad’s head. He once loved that woman.
I squatted on the floor in front of Pete, and sighed, “Even if any of that were true, I would not want to help her nor you. She stood by while Harry abused me, left me choking on my own blood. You just admitted that you are perverted enough to desire a young teenage girl. How could anyone believe a word that comes out of your mouth?”
“Princess, why don’t you let Carnage take you home? I am so glad you are brave enough to face this fucker, but I still don’t want you to see this next part. Anything else that we learn, I will let you know, I
promise,” Dad said, smiling softly at me.
The pride in his eyes was unmistakable, but he was worried. Worried about my mental health after
everything that I have been through. I nodded, “Okay, I will go home.”
“I will stay with her until you get home, Gold,” Daniel said, as he held his hand out to me.
God, a part of me wanted to stay, but another part of me wanted to listen to everything that they were saying and do it. Let’s be honest, am I ready to watch a man be killed in front of me? I really do not know if I am ready for that. Torture, beatings, questioning, I am okay with that for now. I think Dad most of all wants me to take baby steps into this world, and for the most part, I have been charging head first straight
