The Phoenix Knights MC: Strength of Love (Rebecca Waters) novel Chapter 98

Chapter 98

Olivia’s POV

A few of Vargas’ guys opened a secret hatch on the floor of what was once an office. I was moved closer to the hatch, finally able to see ancient looking wooden steps. The type that looked like they would snap if you stepped on them. I sighed, “If I break an ankle, I am dragging it. None of you fuckers are carrying me.” “You have a dirty mouth for a young lady,” Vargas responded, as he dragged me down the steps.

I glanced back at Prez, who had an arm forcibly slung over two of Vargas’ men. Pain was etched across his features, but he was looking down at the floor. He saw me looking at him. His eyes drifted to the floor and then back up at me and winked. I hope that meant he had spotted the trait the invisible ink was leaving.

“You don’t have anything to say about that,” Vargas said, as he dragged me down the tunnel. The men that were in the tunnel parted ways for us.

I chuckled, “Yeah, actually. My fiancé tells me a lot. And, if you touch me, I know exactly what he will do to you.”

“If he comes for you, I will make you watch while I cut his head off,” Vargas threatened.

I narrowed my eyes, focusing on what was ahead. We had already been walking through this tunnel for ten

minutes. We have to come to an exit soon enough, because by now the fighting in the warehouse should

have ended, and they will be looking for Prez and me.

I spotted a bright light. As we got closer, it separated into several beams of light from headlights on vehicles. Still under the darkness of the tunnel, I pulled one of the vials from the brace. It was one of the vials that Mr Robinson had given to me. I kept it in my hand, and waited for the right moment.

“Open the van, and throw the old man in there. Princesa is going to ride in the car with me,” Vargas called

out to his men.

I shoved Vargas away from me, as hard as I could, screaming, “NO!”

I ran towards the van. Someone slammed into me and I crashed into the van, twisting my body, so that my back hit in first. I opened my hand, with the vial in it, and made sure to slam it against the van so it would break. It broke, and the clear gel spread across the van.

“Son of a bitch,” I growled.

Vargas’ hand was in my throat the next second. He growled, “Don’t try to run again. It is likely to get you

hurt.”

I smirked, “Good luck. My step-father beat me for ten years, he beat me until my bones broke. But he never once broke my spirit.”

Vargas’ eyes widened, and his hand shot away from my throat, taking a step away from me. “That is why

you hate him? I could see the hate in your eyes at the gala when we met.”

I nodded, “I am not leaving my Prez’s side. If you put me in that car, I will kick that window until it breaks. and throw myself out of it,”

Vargas’ eyes blazed with rage, before punching the van, right beside my head. The punch was telegraphed a mile away, so I didn’t flinch. I just stared straight at him. Surprise flashed across his face, even though he was trying to mask it with rage.

“Open the van and throw them both in,” Vargas said.

The van doors were opened, and Prez was thrown in. I growled, “Careful with him.”

“I am really starting to hate the care you are showing other men,” Vargas hissed, throwing me into the van

next

“Well, you better get used to it, because there is only one man I love,” I smiled sweetly.

Vargas growled, and slammed the van doors, leaving me alone with Prez. I moved to close the tank on the brace that was still on my arm. But I didn’t say anything to Prez, until I heard the engines start and the vehicles start moving. Prez groaned, as the van went over a bump in the road. “Do you really have to antagonize the man?”

“The one thing I know about men like that is that their gigantic egos can’t handle being antagonized. The moment they are, the cracks appear,” I replied.

“Just be careful, I might be untied right now, but these wounds…,” Prez winced.

I nodded, “How are your injuries?”

“Hurt like a son of a bitch. Olivia, I don’t know how long it will take our family to find us, but you need to make me a promise, while I am still coherent,” Prez said.

“Anything.”

“If… if the worst happens and I don’t make it, I need you to promise me that you will look out for Mike and Katie. That Katie will have a life outside our world. That Mike will have your full supportin leading our club,

Prez requested.

“The worst won’t happen, because they will find us in time, you just need to hold on. But I will promise you that I will always look out for them no matter what,” I promised.

I really hoped that our club would get to us in time, but the pain in my chest said a different thing. That be really might not make it home. The shoulder wound wasn’t the one I was worried about. I was very worried about the leg wound. It might have nicked his femoral artery. I am not a doctor or surgeon, so I have no

idea.

I paid attention to the directions the van was turning. Three rights, a left, and then another right, before we all came to a stop. I think we made it to the other side of the city. Or at least somewhere just on the outside of the other side of the city. We were moving straight for some time between the turns, so l

believe we must have hit the freeway. The only downside to me demanding to be here in this van is that i

can’t see where the hell we are.

Prez placed his hand on my shoulder and said, “I have seen a real change in Carnage since you came into his life. You make him a better man. Gold deserves to have a woman in his life, and he deserves to have

you, he deserved to have kids. If there are two men in this world, who would stop at nothing to get you

home safe, it is them two.”

“I know, Prez. Save your strength. I am not going to leave your side. I might be a woman, but I am the future treasurer. I have to protect you,” I replied.

He nodded, and rested back down on the floor of the van. I watched, remaining silent I needed to bide my time and hope that they would find me soon, that they would find us soon. Prez needs a hospital before it is too late. I want to get back in the arms of the man I love. In the arms of Daniel. When I do get back to him, we are planning our wedding and getting married as soon as possible. I have realized that I cannot live without him, and this has shown just how dangerous and short this life can be. I just hope to have a long, full-filled life with Daniel.
