Daniel’s POV-
My heart was pounding in my chest. I felt like I couldn’t breathe. Hearing Prez had been hit, had me worried about Mike. Him losing his dad would break him. Mike is my future president. I have to watch out for him. Our dads drilled it into each other from a young age to watch out for each other. But I don’t think that was what was making me feel like I couldn’t breathe.
It was hard to get to Prez. Flex was not sounding off their location. Mike was all but screaming into the earpiece wanting eyes on Prez and his team. Smoke had filled the warehouse thanks to the earlier explosion, and it made it damn near impossible to see anything. Most of us were getting to the point where we were having to fight hand to hand or dodge bullets before taking a kill shot because we didn’t want to clip one of our own men.
I pushed forward, my team close behind me. Our guns were up ready to shoot. I rounded a corner, finding Mike and his team. “Mike,” I said, breathlessly.
Mike raised an eyebrow, even though he was panicked and worried about his dad, he was concerned about me. “Why are you breathless?”
“Probably the explosion, he got hit back by the blast pretty badly,” Crusher said.
I shook my head, “I don’t think it is that. I am not in pain.”
“Then what is it?” Mike asked.
I felt a pang in my chest, like the only thing that ever mattered to my heart was pulling further away from me. I clutched my chest, as my brow furrowed, “Where is Queenie? Where is my woman?”
Mike’s eyes widened as he realized what I was saying. Dad appeared at my side with his team. As Gold’s voice came through the earpiece, “We have a couple of men still breathing, hopefully they will be able to tell us where the hell Vargas is. As I haven’t seen him. This fucking place is a maze. Has anyone seen Queenie or Prez?”
“Was Queenie with Prez?” I asked.
Dad nodded next to me. I growled. “Fuck.”
I closed my eyes and concentrated. As Dad said, “They were moving into the warehouse to follow the route you took, Mike. I think Prez wanted to get to you to back you up.”
“This way,” I said, my eyes flinging open and heading off in the direction that Mike had gone in when we entered the building.
As we headed in that direction, the smoke began to clear, making it a damn easier to move through the warehouse. Dad said into the earpiece, “Gold, we need everyone to spread out in pairs. I need more men in here. We need to move our wounded and dead out of this warehouse. We need to find Prez’s team.

They are the only team who has not reported in
More men began to pour through the entrance of the warehouse. Mr Robinson’s voice came through our earpieces, “I am setting up the tracking systems to begin tracing. I am going to send my team’s medical specialist to come and aid Doc in treating your wounded.”
“Keep us updated, if you find anything on the tracking systems,” Mike said.
Mank’s voice crackled through the earpiece next, “Fuck… Prez’s team… They are all dead! Flex, too. Jesus,
was just a kid.”

ash your torch up at the damn roof, Blank,” I growled, into the earpiece.
lank didn’t say anything, he just followed the instruction. We saw the light, and ran towards it. We rounded a final corner and saw Prez’s whole team dead, bullets torn through them. Had to have been done by automatic weapons, no question about that. Blood was everywhere, a lot was pooling around the bodies of our fallen. I glanced at where Flex was, and noticed blood spat and pooling that had not come from him. Surrounding the blood spat and pooling, were the empty packaging of gauze. It made me stop dead in my tracks, as my mind connected the dots.
“Carnage, brother, what is it?” Mike asked, placing his hand on my shoulder.
I placed my hand on my earpiece, “Doc, did you give Queenie gauze?”
“Yes, I did. She asked for them,” Doc replied, causing Mike’s brow to furrow.
I sighed, “Prez must have been hit, landed here. Flex/was protecting him and mostly likely Queenie, who I am going to assume was trying to treat Prez’s wounds.”
“How do you know that?” Mike asked.
I gave him a look, and he held his hands up, “Alright, I got it, stupid question. You know your woman.”
“Exactly, I do,” I said, pulling a black light torch from my belt.

called jut, as I began to follow the trail.
Mike gave a few orders, before following me with Crusher and Blank. We followed it towards a room which I guess was once an office for the man who ran the warehouse. Mike whispered, “Why would the trail lead this way? We checked that room, there was nothing and no one there.”
“Then perhaps there is something no one spotted in the initial sweep. Plus, we were more pre-occupied with the other men that were shooting at us,” I responded, opening the door.
I pushed the door open, and raised my gun to sweep the room. It was clear. No one was inside the room. There were two distinct blood trails coming here. I think there are two wounded, one has to be Prez. Flex said he was hit and clearly Queenie was treating him,” Blank interjected.
I nodded, “I will have to agree with you there. Search the room.”
Everyone began to search and then it hit me. The age of this building, it was built during prohibition. There
is likely a secret tunnel or something. I started stomping on the floor, listening to the ground, to see where
there was loose flooring or a trap door of some kind.
Then we all heard it, the echoing of hollow ground, and the clank of a metal handle. We all shared glances. Mike, Crusher and Blank all drew their guns, while I found the metal handle. I pulled it up, lifting the trap door up, as Mike, Crusher, and Blank aimed their guns down beneath the trap door.
“Clear,” they said in unison.
“What is this?” Blank asked.
