107 Chapter 107 A Dinner With Purpose

Blanche’s POV 1

In the restaurant’s main dining area, Demetrius knew Aiden had gone to meet Zain and the others, so he called over a waiter and asked

for the menu.

Although Aiden had other plans, Demetrius and I still needed to eat.

The waiter had just finished placing the dishes on our table when Aiden emerged from the private room, briefcase in hand.

He walked over, and seeing that Demetrius and I were about to start eating, couldn’t help but tease, What’s this? The supporting actors

are already digging in before the star even shows up?

Hearing Aiden’s voice, Demetrius and I both instinctively rose to our feet. Together, we said, Professor Reese.

Aiden didn’t bother with pleasantries. He set his briefcase on an empty chair and took a seat next to Demetrius. After settling in, he

removed his coat and watch, placing them aside. Clearly, he planned to stay for a proper meal.

Demetrius noticed that Aiden hadn’t dined with Zain and the others in the private room, so he slid the menu toward him. Professor

Reese, would you like to order a few more dishes?

Just as Aiden reached for the menu to place his order, I gently interrupted, Professor Reese, Demetrius, should we move to a private

room?

The restaurant was upscale, but there were still all kinds of people around. For someone as respected as Aiden, I didn’t want to be

impolite, and Demetrius felt the same way.

Demetrius quickly added, Professor Reese, would you prefer a private room?

Aiden slapped the menu down on the table, his tone decisive. No, we’re staying right here in the main dining area. You young people

need to learn when to be frugal and when to spend.

Besides, we’ve got nothing to hideeverything we’re doing is completely above board, so there’s no need to avoid anyone.

Demetrius and I understood exactly what Aiden meant.

Since Aiden had decided, Demetrius and I didn’t push the matter further.

Soon, the two vegetable dishes Aiden had ordered arrived. I glanced at Demetrius, worried that Aiden might feel overlooked.

Aiden could read our thoughts and said, I’m not as spry as I once was. Avoiding greasy meat and eating more vegetables is the key to

good health.”

Demetrius smiled. Professor Reese, I’ll remember that.”

Aiden looked up at Demetrius and rolled his eyes. Still a smooth talker.”

Demetrius smiled gently and glanced my way. Noticing I hadn’t started eating, he served me some food. Blanche, try this. It’s excellent

here.”

I nodded gratefully. Thanks, Demetrius After tasting it, I found it delicious and couldn’t help eating more.

Throughout the meal, Demetrius kept serving me food and soup, always taking care of me.

Aiden watched this and smiled.

When we were nearly finished, Aiden set down his utensils, pointed at Demetrius, and asked me, Do you know why Demetrius invited

me to join you for dinner?

I quickly put down my fork and wiped my mouth when Aiden addressed me directly.

Hearing his question, I looked at Demetrius, then back at Aiden, shaking my head. I don’t know, Professor Reese. Could you tell me?

Aiden didn’t mince words. Graduate school applications are coming up soon. He wants me to offer you some encouragement.

I smiled softly. I’m confident, Professor Reese.

Aiden nodded, clearly impressed by my confidence, then continued, Well, Demetrius’s an exceptional young man. Over the years, he’s

kept his head downno girlfriends, hardly any friends.

He’s been buried in datasets, spending countless hours in the lab without complaint. Of all my students, he’s the only one I have to

remind to take breaks.”

Aiden straightened up, his pride evident as he went on, Fortunately, all that hard work has paid off. He’s discovered new conditions in

neurosurgery, developed targeted treatments, and even holds patents.

Among all the students I’ve mentored, he’s the only one with excellent character, good looks, a stable personal life, and a promising

future.

Listening to Aiden praise Demetrius, I couldn’t help but glance at him. Then I turned to Aiden. Professor Reese, Demetrius really is

wonderful.

Aiden’s tone softened, and he smiled. Exactly. If he’s that good, don’t let him get away.

I immediately grasped what Aiden was suggesting, but I wasn’t sure how to politely deflect his matchmaking attempt. I simply lowered

my head, avoiding his gaze.

Demetrius saw I was uncomfortable and quickly intervened. Professor Reese, didn’t you always say that distractions are the biggest

taboo for medical students?

Aiden turned to Demetrius, his expression still sharp but his eyes gentle. That’s only for people whose hearts aren’t truly in medicine.

But you two are serious about it, so you don’t need to worry about those old rules.”

With Demetrius and me, Aiden was no longer the strict mentor but a friend, chatting casually with us. We discussed our studies, shared stories about challenging cases and surgeries, and exchanged tips from the medical field.

Overall, we had a wonderful dinner.

Meanwhile, Zain and his group finished their meal and emerged from the private room. Zain walked straight to the cashier, not noticing

Blanche and the others in the main dining area.

However, Joanna and Drew, who followed right behind him, spotted Blanche and her companions from a distance.

Blanche sat with her back to the cashier, completely unaware that Zain and the others had already left their room.

Demetrius and Aiden noticed them but didn’t let it interrupt their conversation. As they continued talking. Demetrius didn’t want to let

anyone spoil the atmosphere.

Professor Reese, I’ve been working on a promising research topic lately. Once Blanche completes her master’s and gets accepted into

your Ph.D. program, I’m planning to collaborate with her on it,” Demetrius said.

Aiden’s interest was sparked. Tell me more. What’s the project about? Don’t keep any brilliant ideas to yourself. Blanche still has years

ahead of her, so you can develop another project by then.

Demetrius knew Aiden was passionate about research, so he smiled and agreed. Absolutely.

Meanwhile, Joanna overheard the conversation between Demetrius and Aiden, and her mood, which had been lifting, plummeted once

again.

Joanna’s expression darkened as she observed Aiden’s friendly demeanor with Blanche, so different from the stern, irritated attitude he

always showed her. Her jaw clenched as she watched Demetrius attentively discussing future research plans with Blanche, something he

had never offered her despite being her senior as well. The sight of Blanche effortlessly receiving project opportunities while Joanna

struggled endlessly with research papers without making progress filled her with bitter frustration.

Joanna felt resentment building inside her as she glared at Demetrius and Aiden.

Drew completely missed Joanna’s mood. He just suddenly understood. So that’s who Aiden was meeting for dinner.”

Joanna’s voice was heavy with bitterness. Demetrius’s Professor Reese’s favorite. Of course he gets all the advantages.

Drew simply snorted, but since Joanna wasn’t wrong, he said nothing.

At that moment, Joanna had a thought. Although Aiden wouldn’t help her, if she could get Demetrius’s assistance, her research topic

would finally have direction.
