120 Chapter 120 We Are Done Here

Blanche’s POV 1

After hanging up, I sat on the bed for a while.

Carry’s words didn’t sting anymore. I just felt empty inside.

Carry had already decided to see Joanna as her mother, and honestly, it didn’t matter why she was so attached to her.

After pulling myself together, I started cleaning up the room. I put away the scattered petals and gifts, washed up, and crawled into bed.

The next morning, I got dressed and left the Callum Mansion. I was going to face Zain and talk about divorce. No more delays. I drove

straight to his office building.

Standing outside, I called Zain, but he didn’t pick up. Instead, he texted: [I’m in a meeting. We’ll talk later.] I fired back: [I’ll wait for you at

your office.] He didn’t respond, so I found a spot in the lobby and settled in.

After a while, the receptionist’s face lit up like a Christmas tree. She jumped to her feet, practically glowing. Ms. Vins, you’re here!

I turned around and saw Joanna walking through the entrance.

Is Zain in?Joanna asked, approaching the front desk.

The receptionist beamed. Mr. Jacob’s at a meeting, but he said if you stopped by while he was out, you could wait in his office. I’ll take

you right up.

Joanna’s smile was soft and gracious. That’s very kind of you.

The receptionist rushed to add, Don’t mention it, Ms. Vins. Anything you need, just say the word.

Joanna nodded, and the receptionist escorted her to the CEO’s private elevator.

I watched the whole scene unfold, bitterness spreading through my chest like poison. In all the time I’d been married to Zain, I’d barely

set foot in this place. Yet Joanna acted like she owned it.

I was the actual Mrs. Jacob, but no one here even knew who I was. Meanwhile, Joannawho had no business being heregot the royal

treatment from everyone.

It was crystal clear how much Zain treasured her. The only reason his staff kissed her ass was because Zain made it obvious how much

she meant to him.

More time dragged by before I finally heard a car engine outside. Zain strode in, flanked by a pack of suits. The moment I spotted him, I

shot to my feet.

Desmond, walking beside Zain, noticed me first. He leaned over and murmured, Mr. Jacob, your wife’s here.”

Zain’s eyes found mine, his expression tightening. He clearly hadn’t bothered reading my message about waiting heremy presence caught him off guard.

As he got closer, he stopped and asked, irritation bleeding through his voice, What are you doing here?

I caught the real meaning behind his words.

He saw me as some embarrassing intruder who didn’t belong in his world, someone who’d make him look bad in front of his people.

But I was past caring. I met his gaze headon. “We need to talk. Privately. With his entourage hanging around, I wasn’t about to bring up divorce right here.

Zain had no clue what I wanted to discuss, but he was obviously swamped. I’ve got a meeting upstairs. Can you hang tight?

I frowned. How long?

Zain thought for a beat. Not too long.

Even though frustration was cating at me, I nodded. Fine. I’ll wait.” I was done dragging this out.

The only person getting destroyed here was me.

The suits trailing Zain obviously had no idea who I was and stared at me with nosy, hostile looks.

I ignored their stares, refusing to let them get under my skin. Zain took his private elevator up, and I dropped back into my chair.

I sat there for what felt like forever. The receptionist didn’t even offer me water. Not that I gave a damnI was only here to get this

divorce conversation over with.

Finally, my phone buzzed with a text from Zain: [I’ll swing by the hospital tomorrow to get you. We’ll talk tomorrow night. It’s Sunday,

and Carry’s expecting me to take her out somewhere fun.]

Reading that message, rage shot through my veins.

But we’d already hit rock bottom. All I could do was wait.

The next evening, after my shift ended, I walked out of the hospital and spotted Zain’s car waiting.

Once I slid inside, I noticed a bouquet in the backseat along with an expensive shopping bag. I didn’t need to guess what was inside.

Obviously, these were meant for Joanna.

After we cleared the traffic, Zain glanced over at me. The flowers and gift are for your birthday. Hope you like them.”

I paused, then responded icily, Zain, I don’t want any of this.

My voice carried an edge, but Zain probably figured I was pissed about him forgetting my birthday. He kept his tone soft. I’ll make sure

to remember from now on.

I just shrugged, not bothering to fight with Zain. Instead, I asked, Where are we going?

Zain answered, Made us a reservation at a restaurant.”

A restaurant wasn’t the right place for this kind of conversation, so I suggested, Let’s go to Alexander Villa instead.Alexander Villa was our new housethe perfect place for things to end.

Zain looked puzzled, his brow creasing. But today isn’t your ovulation day, right?

I immediately caught his meaning.

My expression turned to ice as I snapped back, Zain, is making another baby the only thing we ever discuss?

Zain blinked, clearly confused. What?

With the car still moving, I said, Pull over.

Without more questions, Zain did what I asked. It was the first time he’d actually listened to me. The flowers and gift in the backseat

were the first things he’d ever given me.

Once the car stopped, I turned to Zain, my eyes cold and distant. I’ve had the agreement for Alexander Villa ready for ages. Is there

some problem with it? Is that why you haven’t signed it?

Zain had never even looked at the agreementhe still didn’t realize it was divorce papers. He shook his head curtly. No.

I felt a sharp stab in my chest. I took a steady breath before saying calmly, Zain, we’re done here. I won’t get in the way of whoever you

want to be with, but this marriage has to end.”
