28 Chapter 128 The Terms Of Abandonment

Blanche’s POV 1

My face was crushed against Vincent’s chest, and I felt his voice vibrating through his ribcage while his heartbeat pounded beneath my

ear.

His words sounded so sincere that even I, despite being married before, felt my pulse quicken.

Yet I understood Vincent was a charmer, worldly and seasoned; he always had the perfect words to sweep any woman off her feet.

I fought against his grip a few times, but when I realized escape was impossible, I finally spoke, The first aid kit is in the coffee table

drawer.

Vincent released me and snapped, Blanche, no one would care about you.” With that, he turned toward the window.

The rope remained coiled on the floor. He only needed to grab it to escape immediately. But Vincent froze. He remained motionless for

what seemed like an eternity.

I caught Vincent’s reflection in the floortoceiling window. His eyes were clenched shut, as though he was wrestling internal battles.

Yet after mere moments, Vincent whirled around with blazing fury and marched to the coffee table.

He searched through and snatched the first aid kit, then glanced up at me, still hovering near the door.

Come here,he commanded. His tone was authoritative, brooking no defiance.

I hesitated, unsure, but eventually I moved closer. I settled onto the couch and extended my arm toward him. Thanks,I whispered.

Vincent remained silent. He pushed up my sleeve, then muttered playfully, I could never turn my back on you.

I stiffened momentarily, startled. I gazed down at Vincent, who was crouched before me. His actions were awkward, almost painfully

gentle, as though he feared causing me harm.

Vincent was tall and attractive, but his tenderness always made me uneasy. His proximity felt far from pure.

I knew precisely what was happening, but I stayed quiet. Some things are better kept locked in your heart, I reflected.

After he finished treating my wound, Vincent still said nothing. He placed my phone down, seized the rope, and climbed through the

window.

Within moments, he had disappearedvanished from the window.

After storing the first aid kit, my phone buzzed again. I glanced down and saw Zain calling.

Perhaps there’s updates about the divorce papers, I thought, and answered immediately.

Zain’s voice came through the speaker. Hey, I wanted to askhow do you usually help Carry when her stomach hurts?

Carry’s stomach was bothering her again, and nothing they tried seemed effective. So, with no alternatives left, Zain had no choice but

to contact me.

I felt disappointed once more, but the sensation faded quickly.

I composed myself and responded patiently, Warm up your hands first, then gently press your palm on the sore area and massage it in

soft circles.

Zain’s voice remained steady on the other end. Got it.

Just as Zain was about to disconnect, I called out, Zain?

What’s up?he asked.

I spoke firmly, If it’s not about the divorce papers, please don’t call me again. I’m swamped, and I don’t have time to play house with you.

We’re not kids anymore. Prolonging this is just wasting both our time.

Zain seemed stunned. After a lengthy silence, he finally said, Desmond just called. He said the divorce papers are nearly ready. I’ll check

tomorrow. Let’s meet at Alexander Villa tomorrow night.

I exhaled with relief. Okay, see you tomorrow night.

***** The following evening, I arrived at Alexander Villa straight from work.

Cherry looked shocked to see me, but her surprise quickly shifted to warmth. Mrs. Jacob, would you like me to prepare dinner?Cherry

offered.

I shook my head. I’m fine, not particularly hungry.”

Cherry nodded and returned to her tasks.

I settled on the couch, waiting for Zain to return. I didn’t even touch my phone, just gazed blankly ahead.

But as time passed, Zain remained absent.

It was quite late, and he still hadn’t appeared.

The longer I waited, the more my frustration grew.

Finally, I couldn’t bear it anymore. I dialed Zain, but he didn’t answerworse, he rejected my call.

But shortly after, Zain called me back.

I picked up frantically, my voice tense. Zain, where are you?

But Desmond spoke instead. Blanche, something happened at Jacob Group. Mr. Jacob had to schedule an emergency meeting tonight.

He asked me to inform you the signing will be delayed until tomorrow night.”

I persisted, refusing to accept defeat. So he really can’t return tonight?

Desmond explained, A project we were close to securing got stolen by someone else. The team invested significant effort, and Mr. Jacob refuses to simply surrender, so they’re strategizing their next move.

I sighed heavily, my voice filled with resignation. Alright, I understand.

After ending the call, I collapsed back into the couch, feeling completely drained. Seems like the divorce papers won’t get signed tonight, after all, I mused.

And if someone could steal a project right from Zain’s grasp, they must be formidable.

The next day, I was still working when my phone suddenly rang; it was Zain calling.

I’m waiting for you at the hospital entrance,he said.

Okay,” I replied.

After washing my hands and leaving the department, I exited the hospital and immediately spotted Zain waiting in his car. I opened the door and slipped into the back seat.

The drive was quiet. Neither of us spoke.

Zain handled several work calls, then Joanna called.

By the time they finished, we had reached Alexander Villa. We stepped out of the car and walked straight into the main hall.

Cherry’s eyes went wide with shock when she saw us enter together.

Zain didn’t allow Cherry time to question anything. He instructed, Cherry, go rest. Blanche and I need to discuss something.

Okay,Cherry said quickly and departed.

The atmosphere tonight felt odd, and Cherry didn’t dare stay.

Once Cherry left, Zain retrieved the divorce papers he’d prepared and handed them to me. Take a look. If there’s anything you’re

unhappy with, we can review it together,” he said.

I nodded quietly and took the documents, my eyes carefully reading each line.

The first clause stated Zain wanted custody of Carry.

The second clause offered me 30 million dollars in cash, but Alexander Villa and Blissfield Villa weren’t part of the settlement.

The third clause specified I couldn’t remarry or have additional children for several years after the divorce.

The fourth clause required that whenever Carry needed her mother, I had to abandon everything and appear.

The fifth clause allowed me to visit Carry, but only with both Zain and Carry’s consent.

The sixth clause prohibited telling Oswald about the divorce for now, so whenever he summoned us home, we’d need to perform and pretend everything was fine.

After reviewing the agreement, I found it fair enough. I looked up at him and said, No problems from me.

I was unnaturally composed, as though this was just another mundane matter between us. But this marriage was something I had plotted and fought to obtain initially. And now, I was simply abandoning it.

Zain’s POV

Recently, I kept questioning if Blanche was withdrawing deliberately, attempting to capture my attention. But observing her now, it

appeared I’d simply been deluding myself.

I gazed into her eyes. For the first time ever, I was truly examining her.

Even when we were intimate, I’d simply gone through the motions, never actually focusing.

But now, for once, I was genuinely studying her, really observing her.

I had to acknowledgeshe was beautiful. With refined features, an elegant nose, those profound eyesshe was stunning, without

question.

Blanche’s POV

I drifted off, and when I noticed he was just sitting there, I called to him, Zain?

He refocused, grabbed a pen, and said, I don’t have any objections either.”

After he’d signed his name, he handed the pen to me. I accepted it and carefully signed my name on the agreement.

With everything finalized, Zain rose and said to me, I’ll meet you at the local court first thing in the morning. We’ll file the divorce

paperwork and begin the process.

Okay.I replied.
