166 Chapter 166 You Reached For Me First
**Blanche’s POV** 1
Everyone around the table was lost in their own thoughts, but Nicholas and Noelle seemed completely detached, like they were just
watching a show.
Drew looked amused watching Kingsley defend me so fiercely.
He leaned forward, cutting straight to the point. “Kingsley, are you completely clueless? Court her?”
Kingsley stayed calm. Rather than getting angry, he shot a meaningful glance at Joanna, then turned back to Drew. “Maybe you should
ask yourself who’s really blind here.”
Drew finally snapped. His fist crashed onto the table as he jumped up. “Kingsley!”
Kingsley didn’t even flinch, just looked up with that cool stare. “What’s your problem?”
The tension was so thick you could cut it with a knife. A fight seemed ready to explode.
Vincent instinctively moved closer to me, shooting Zain an icy glare.
Zain could see Drew was about to lose it completely, so he stepped in fast. “Drew, don’t cause a scene.”
Drew gritted his teeth and dropped back into his chair, fury radiating from every inch of him.
This was the second time tonight Kingsley had publicly humiliated Drew, and they were guests at the Tim family’s house. He couldn’t
afford to make a scene.
Kingsley caught Drew’s barely contained rage and couldn’t resist pushing further. He muttered just loud enough for Drew to hear,
“Coward.”
With the Tim family watching, Kingsley knew Drew wouldn’t dare make a move.
Watching Drew squirm always brightened Kingsley’s mood.
Under the table, Noelle elbowed Kingsley and whispered, “Starting fights is illegal, you know. Don’t let them bait you.”
Kingsley heard him and backed off, staying quiet.
Completely ignoring whatever Zain and the others were thinking, Kingsley turned back to me. “Blanche, you and Vincent just relax. I’ll
grab you some cake”
I gave him a warm smile. “Thanks, Kingsley”
Joanna watched Kingsley working so hard to impress and, clearly irritated, stomped her foot under the table.
She was thinking, ‘He has no clue who Vincent really likes, and here he is putting on this whole show for nothing
Zain noticed something was bothering Joanna and turned to her with concern. “What’s wrong?”

Joanna quickly shook her head. “Nothing at all.”
As the banquet was winding down, Wayne came back from making his rounds.
He walked up behind Zain, tapped Joanna on the shoulder, and whispered, “Oswald asked me to give you this.”
He handed her a small box.
Joanna took it, looking surprised. “Oh?”
Wayne explained, “Oswald wanted you to have it.”
Joanna went still for a moment, thinking, ‘Does Oswald already know about me? Is this his way of showing he approves of me and Zain?
Seeing her stunned expression, Wayne smiled. “Take good care of Zain, okay? He’s one of the good ones.”
After Wayne said that, Joanna felt even more convinced–Oswald definitely knew about her and was giving his blessing.
She nodded eagerly. “Don’t worry, Wayne. I’ll definitely take care of Zain.”
Wayne smiled and nodded, then looked around at everyone at the table. “There’s dancing later. Stay and have fun.”
“Absolutely,” Kingsley jumped in, trying to lighten the atmosphere.
After Wayne left, Noelle checked his watch. It was getting late, so he stood up.
He said goodbye to Vincent, Blanche, and Kingsley, explaining he needed to get home to his daughter. Then he left.
Soon after, the banquet ended, and Wayne’s staff led everyone to the dance hall.
The moment we walked in, everyone’s jaws hit the floor.
The place was pure luxury: cocktails, fruit, cakes, and every appetizer you could imagine covered the tables.
As if that wasn’t enough, there was a complete light show, a stage, and even a grand piano.
Kingsley took in the lavish setup, then spun around and offered me his hand with that playful grin. “Blanche, care to dance?”
Before I could respond, Vincent knocked his hand away.
Kingsley shot Vincent an annoyed look. “Man, you’re such a killjoy.”
Meanwhile, Joanna stopped dead in her tracks, staring at the piano.
Zain was about to ask her to dance, but before he could get a word out, Joanna pointed at the piano. “Zain, can I play something for
everyone?”
Zain smiled, abandoning his own plans. “Sure. If that’s what you want, go ahead.”
Joanna lifted her dress and gracefully headed toward the stage.

Before sitting down, she deliberately caught Zain’s eye and flashed him a sweet smile.
That smile wasn’t just for Zain–she made sure Vincent saw it too.
Joanna seemed confident the piano was her specialty, and I guessed she hoped showing off her talent would make Vincent notice her
even more.
So when she volunteered to play, it was half to entertain everyone and half to flirt with Vincent.
With Joanna gone, Zain lost all interest in dancing. But when he looked back, he spotted me across the room.
He hesitated for a moment, then walked over.
Vincent was standing right beside me, and when he saw Zain approaching, he gave him a wary look.
Zain stopped in front of me, held out his hand, and asked in that deep, rough voice, “Want to dance?”
I stared at his hand–those fingers were long, elegant, almost too perfect.
Vincent stood there silently. Just like Zain, he was waiting for my answer.
My hesitation was like a blade twisting in Vincent’s chest. His hands clenched until his nails dug into his palms.
I could almost hear Vincent’s bitter thoughts: that I would never say no to Zain, that I was still in love with him.
Zain seemed sure I wouldn’t refuse him, probably because I was still his wife, and we weren’t divorced yet.
Kingsley, Drew, and the others turned to watch. Every eye was on me, waiting to see what I’d choose.
After a long, tense pause, I finally reached out my hand.
Kingsley frowned, looking worried and annoyed.
Drew shot Kingsley a look that told me he was already planning how he’d mock him later.
As for Vincent, when he saw me reach toward Zain, he shut his eyes, unable to watch.
But then, in a move that shocked everyone, I gently pushed Mr. Jacob’s hand away. “Mr. Jacob, I’m sorry. I already have a dance partner.
With that, I turned and slipped my arm through Vincent’s.
Vincent, who had his eyes closed, felt my touch and snapped them open.
When he looked down, he saw my hand resting on his arm.
This time, I had chosen him first.
Emotion seemed to crash through him like a tsunami.
He looked utterly stunned, as if caught in a dream.
Kingsley, never missing a chance, called out with a huge grin, “That’s my girl, Blanche!”
Drew, disappointed, turned back to watch Joanna play.

Zain’s face darkened, but he stayed silent and stepped back.
When he left, I tried to pull my hand away. But Vincent gripped it tight, refusing to let go.
I turned to face him, only to find Vincent staring at me, his eyes red and swimming with emotion.
People were walking by all around us, but in that instant, Vincent’s gaze was fixed solely on me.
Vincent lowered his head, his voice rough. “I’ve taken so many steps toward you, always telling myself to give up. But just now, you
reached for me first.”
He paused, then flashed a cocky, almost dangerous grin. With a possessive edge in his voice, he said, “Blanche, there’s no escaping me
now.”
