231 Chapter 231 A Dangerous Declaration
Blanche’s POV
I caught sight of Ophelia walking in and scrapped my escape plan immediately.
Ophelia strutted over carrying a small container, dropping it carelessly on my nightstand. “Zain worried you might starve yourself to death alone, so he sent me to babysit you,” she grumbled, her expression sour.
My face hardened. “Keep your fake concern to yourself,” I shot back.
Ophelia rolled her eyes. “Trust me, I didn’t want to come. I could’ve been home binge–watching shows, watering my plants, or feeding my goldfish. Literally anything beats checking on you–some unwanted
stray.”
Her words made me laugh. “Then leave,” I said simply.
Ophelia’s face flushed with anger. “Look at you, Blanche, getting all mouthy now. You think you can

sass me? Do you honestly believe you deserve to be part of the Jacob family?”
She scoffed, “Take a good look at yourself. Do you see anything remotely resembling class? It’s honestly shocking you managed to trap Zain–your dead relatives must be celebrating in the afterlife.”
I let out an even icier laugh but stayed silent. Not worth wasting my breath.
Seeing my attitude, Ophelia snapped, “Not even gonna show some respect? You think you can walk all over me? Let me teach you some manners.”
She rolled up her sleeves, clearly ready for a fight.
But this time, I wasn’t scared–Vincent was here with
This wasn’t like that awful night when I had nobody.
Just as Ophelia lifted her hand, the bathroom door opened. Vincent emerged in gray pajamas, leaning casually against the doorframe. He stayed put, not moving toward the bed, but his voice cut through the tension with quiet authority. “Touch her and find out

what happens.”
Ophelia whirled around, hesitating when she spotted Vincent. Confusion crossed her features. “Vincent?”
Vincent glanced up, still running his electric razor along his jawline, absently rubbing the stubble.
He flashed Ophelia a lazy grin. “Well, well, fancy seeing you here.”
Ophelia grimaced, looking genuinely disgusted. “Don’t kid yourself. Save the fake pleasantries.”
Vincent chuckled, his tone playfully mocking. “Still as
stuck–up as ever, I see.”
The Jacob and Aarav families had been business
enemies for years. It wasn’t just Zain and Vincent who despised each other–their entire bloodlines were locked in warfare.
Ophelia raised her chin defiantly, her eyes gleaming with arrogance. “Do you even realize who my son is? I’ve got every right to feel superior.”
Vincent gave a harsh, dismissive laugh. “Zain? That piece of work? Since when does being related to him

make you special?”
Ophelia snorted contemptuously. “Maybe look in a mirror before trash–talking others.”
Vincent raised an eyebrow, grinning without shame. “What? My devastatingly handsome face and all the beautiful women chasing me?”
Ophelia actually spat on the floor, sneering, “You’re truly pathetic–absolutely shameless.”
Vincent shrugged, completely unbothered. But his charming smile vanished instantly, replaced by a glacial stare. “So, are we done here? Time for you to go.”
Ophelia laughed.mockingly, her eyes flashing
dangerously. “Oh really? And what gives you the right to stick around?”
Vincent echoed her words, dragging out each syllable teasingly. “The right to stick around, huh? What makes me so privileged?”
After a pause, Vincent looked over at me, his gaze loaded with unspoken meaning. “You want to know

why? Maybe you should ask Blanche directly.”
Ophelia spun toward me, dropping her voice to a threatening whisper. “Tell me–what’s Vincent talking about?”
I forced myself to sit up straighter, pressing my back against the headboard. Meeting Ophelia’s confused stare, I blurted out almost on instinct, “Vincent’s my lover.”
The words hit like a bomb. Ophelia’s mouth fell open, and even Vincent, who’d been enjoying the show,
looked stunned for a second.
Vincent had probably expected me to call him a friend, or maybe pretend we barely knew each other—but claiming he was my lover so matter–of–factly? He clearly hadn’t seen that coming.
Even though it was all an act, the way I’d said it—so completely calm, so effortlessly confident—almost made Vincent believe it was real.
Ophelia stood frozen, stammering, “What did you just say?”

I didn’t waver. I repeated clearly and steadily, “Vincent’s my lover.”
This time, Ophelia’s face turned ice–cold with fury. “Have you lost your mind? You’ve completely snapped -how dare you cheat on Zain?”
As she spoke, Ophelia raised her hand to strike me.
Vincent remained where he was, completely at ease. He spoke up, his voice calm but deadly. “You might want to reconsider your next move. If I’m her lover, then she means everything to me. Touch her and you’ll answer to me—and honestly, can the Jacob family handle those consequences?”
After a tense moment of silence, Ophelia lowered her hand, absolutely seething.
But she couldn’t contain herself. She turned on me,
her tone venomous. “How could you betray Zain like this? Don’t you feel even a shred of guilt?”
I was already drained by the whole mess, so I fired back, “Whether I do or don’t–what difference does it make to you?”

Ophelia’s face turned crimson with rage. She pointed at me, practically hissing the words. “You’re disgusting -fooling around with someone like Vincent! Have you no shame whatsoever?”
I didn’t flinch. I lifted my chin and stared her down. “So what? What exactly are you gonna do about it?”
Ophelia was trembling with fury. “Divorce! You’re getting divorced, and you’re leaving with nothing—not a single cent from Zain!”
She thought the threat of divorce would terrify me, but I just laughed, meeting her eyes directly. “Actually? Thanks for doing me that favor.”
Ophelia grew even more enraged. “You—”
But before she could finish, Vincent moved forward, looming beside her, his imposing figure casting a shadow that engulfed her completely. He asked, “So, are we finished here? Can you leave now?”
Ophelia refused to look at Vincent, but I could see her feeling his intimidating presence radiating from
behind her.

In all of Oakwood, the Jacob family wielded serious influence, but the Aaravs were equally powerful.
The two dynasties were locked in eternal rivalry, intertwined yet unable to destroy each other.
Finally, Ophelia could only clench her teeth and storm
out.
After Ophelia left, Vincent picked up the small
container from my nightstand and opened it. Inside was a pathetic excuse for porridge–basically just cloudy water with a few rice grains floating around.
Vincent took one look, scoffed, and tossed the entire thing straight into the trash.
A moment later, his phone rang–his assistant calling.
Vincent stepped into the hallway to wait. Soon enough, his assistant appeared with breakfast that looked like it came from a five–star hotel.
Back in my room, Vincent unpacked the containers.
The spread was incredible–creamy porridge, various side dishes, perfectly prepared eggs, and even some gourmet wraps.

Since I was still injured and eating was challenging, Vincent said, “Let me help you.”
He dipped the spoon into the porridge, carefully offering me the first bite. After I swallowed, he looked directly into my eyes, his tone suddenly intense. “End the pregnancy. Come away with me from Oakwood. I’ll take you somewhere you can finally live the peaceful life you’ve always wanted.”
He hadn’t forgotten what I’d told him before—that all I craved was a simple, quiet existence.
