238 Chapter 238 The Battle For
Sweetheart
Blanche’s POV
When I walked out of the Callum Mansion with Vincent beside me, I caught sight of Demetrius waiting outside. Something flickered across his face–like he’d been stung.
But as I approached him, Demetrius’s expression brightened into that familiar warm smile, lifting his umbrella as he stepped toward me.
Once we were close enough, Demetrius tilted the umbrella completely over me, making sure I stayed dry.
His eyes found mine, that gentle smile spreading across his features. “Blanche.”
I looked up at him, returning the smile. “Demetrius.”
Before leaving the house, I’d spent extra time on my makeup, carefully covering the faint marks on my face with concealer.

To Demetrius, I probably looked perfectly fine–like I’d never been sick at all.
Demetrius shifted the umbrella to his other hand,
positioning himself beside me. “Let’s get in the car.”
Vincent stood nearby, rolling his eyes at Demetrius’s display.
I caught his muttered words, barely audible: “All for
show.”
I spun around and shot him a sharp look.
Seeing my glare, Vincent deliberately turned away, refusing to meet my eyes or respond.
Demetrius caught Vincent’s snide remark too, but he didn’t react with anger. Instead, he just smiled softly and said, “Blanche, let’s get in the car.”
I nodded. “Yeah.”
Demetrius kept the umbrella over both of us as we walked to the car together.
When we reached it, Demetrius opened the passenger door for me.

Vincent trailed behind me, and the second he saw Demetrius opening the front door, he rushed forward and pulled me back just as I was about to slide in.
At the same time, he turned to Demetrius with a smirk. “Sweetheart can sit in the back. After all, she’s riding with me.”
That roguish grin played at Vincent’s lips as he spoke.
I tried to pull my hand free, but Vincent’s grip was iron —he effortlessly pushed me into the back seat before I could protest.
Everything happened so fast that Demetrius barely had time to process it before I was already settled in the back.
Vincent rolled down his window, flashing his boyish charm. He raised an eyebrow at Demetrius. “Mr. Jake,
drive.”
He drew out the words deliberately, that half–smirk never leaving his face.
Demetrius folded the umbrella, then glanced back at me in the rear seat. When our eyes met, I felt guilt

creeping into my expression, but he just smiled softly. “Blanche, make sure you buckle your seat belt.”
I nodded. “Okay.”
I reached for the seat belt, but Vincent was quicker- he grabbed it first and clicked it into place for me without missing a beat.
After securing it, Vincent turned to Demetrius with that cocky grin. “Sweetheart’s with me, Mr. Jake, so you can just relax. I’ve got her covered.”
Demetrius completely ignored Vincent, not even glancing his way.
He slid into the driver’s seat and pulled out of the driveway.
During the drive to the restaurant, Vincent wouldn’t stop his teasing from the back seat.
“Sweetheart, you tired? Want me to give you a shoulder rub, hmm?”
“Sweetheart, your hair’s all messy. Want me to tidy it up for you?”

“Sweetheart, you’re so cool and distant… But that’s exactly why I can’t get enough of you.”
“Sweetheart, give me a smile, will you?”
I knew exactly what Vincent was doing–he was pulling out every trick in the book just to get under
Demetrius’s skin. I refused to play along, staying silent
the entire ride.
Seeing my reaction, Demetrius couldn’t help but smile slightly.
Even though I completely ignored him, Vincent was relentless, clearly enjoying himself as he kept up his teasing.
It felt like he just wanted to see me smile.
Soon enough, we pulled into the restaurant’s parking
lot.
As soon as we arrived, I spotted Zain’s car immediately.
His vehicle had just stopped too; Zain quickly
unbuckled himself, stepped out, walked around to the passenger side, and opened the door.

He bent down to prevent Joanna from hitting her head, gently helping her out of the car.
I watched the scene unfold, a bitter ache spreading through my chest.
Not once in our years of marriage had Zain ever shown me this kind of care. Yet now, with Joanna, every tender gesture seemed natural to him–like he’d always been this way.
After Demetrius parked, he came around to open my door. On the other side, Vincent had already jumped out, extending his broad hand as an invitation.
Both men called out simultaneously, “Come on, get
out.”
I froze for a moment, startled by their synchronized voices. Instinctively, I tore my gaze away from Zain and Joanna, who were just a short distance away.
That’s when it hit me–Demetrius stood to my left, Vincent to my right, each offering a hand, both waiting for me to emerge.
For a moment, I hesitated, genuinely unsure whom to

choose.
After a brief pause, I reached for Demetrius, who was closer. He gently took my fingertips in his.
Demetrius gave me a soft smile as he helped me out of
the car.
But the instant Vincent saw me choose Demetrius, the warmth in his eyes died completely.
Only for a split second, though–then he slammed the car door shut and strode toward me.
Joanna’s POV
Meanwhile, as Zain helped Joanna out of the car, she immediately spotted Demetrius Jake and Vincent nearby.
The two men stood on either side of a car, one left and one right. Through the windshield, Joanna could see that the woman in the back seat was Blanche.
Seeing both Demetrius and Vincent focused on Blanche simultaneously sent an inexplicable wave of discomfort through Joanna.

Zain closed the car door and approached, noticing Joanna didn’t look quite right. Concerned, he asked, “You don’t look so good. What’s the matter?”
Joanna shook her head, her voice gentle. “It’s nothing, really. Maybe I’m just a little chilly.”
She’d chosen style over warmth today, wearing only a
winter dress without a coat.
Hearing her words, Zain immediately shrugged off his jacket and draped it around her shoulders, then wrapped his arm around her as they headed toward
the restaurant.
Zain never even noticed the others; it was as if they
didn’t exist.
Honestly, it made sense–his attention was completely absorbed by Joanna.
Blanche’s POV
Right after Vincent got out of the car, I noticed he’d spotted Zain and Joanna. The moment he saw Zain putting his jacket over Joanna’s shoulders, Vincent looked concerned that I might be cold too, so he

immediately started removing his own jacket for me.
I saw what Vincent was trying to do and quickly waved him off. “I’m fine, Mr. Aarav–no need, seriously.”
While I was refusing Vincent, Demetrius smoothly draped his jacket over my shoulders from behind.
At the same time, Demetrius said, “Blanche, let’s go in. Professor Reese just messaged–he’s been bugging us to hurry up.”
Hearing that, I didn’t even register the jacket now resting on my shoulders–I just turned to Demetrius. “Okay, let’s head inside.”
Vincent said nothing, silently falling into step behind
Just as we stepped into the restaurant, Vincent called out, stopping me in my tracks. “Sweetheart, hold on a second.”
I paused, and Vincent approached–his hand reaching to smooth my hair, but then, with a quick, almost possessive motion, he slipped Demetrius’s jacket right off my shoulders.

Immediately, he replaced it with his own jacket. “I’ll be right outside. Anything comes up, you call me—I’ll
come running. Got it?”
