255 Chapter 255 A Quiet And
Deadly Vow
Blanche’s POVO
Zain held me tight, letting me cry against him.
I leaned into his chest while his chin rested gently on top of my head. His attention and the pain in his heart were completely focused on me.
He didn’t press me for details. Simply being there was the best comfort he could offer.
When I finished crying, I felt somewhat relieved.
Remembering Amara, I finally pulled back from Zain’s embrace and met his eyes. “Amara’s gone missing.”
Zain looked back at me, his tone soft. “I know. But Kingsley’s already searching for her.”
I blinked, startled. “Mr. Jim?”
Zain kept me close in his arms, showing no signs of letting go. Honestly, I’d completely forgotten I was still being held.

Zain nodded. “The guy who wanted to see Amara? That’s Kingsley.”
I creased my brow, puzzled. “But why?”
Zain chuckled quietly. “What do you think? Love, obviously.”
I considered this. I had no idea Kingsley was interested in Amara, or when these feelings started.
But if Zain said it, there must be truth to it.
After pondering, I simply nodded. “Okay.”
Realizing I was still in Zain’s arms, I carefully stepped back from his hold.
Once I was standing on my own, I faced Zain.
“I need to find Amara.”
He showed no irritation; instead, he smiled warmly and, when I wasn’t paying attention, took my hand in his.
He guided me toward his vehicle. “Let’s go meet Kingsley. He might’ve already located Amara.”

Zain opened the car door, gesturing for me to get in the passenger side.
I glanced back at the vehicle that had smashed into the small building. The front end was completely destroyed, covered in debris and grime.
I hesitated, reluctant to leave it behind. “The car…”
Zain helped me into the seat and fastened my seatbelt, then stood up with a smile. “Don’t stress about it. I’ll get you a replacement soon.”
I wasn’t really expecting Zain to replace my car. Right now, my only concern was locating Amara and ensuring she was safe.
I decided to drop it and concentrate on what truly mattered.
After we were both seated, Zain dialed Kingsley again.
The car was silent, and I could hear Kingsley’s voice through the phone–rough and strained.
Something was definitely wrong.
My heart started racing.

Zain picked up on the tension too and didn’t probe further. “What’s your location?”
Kingsley answered, “Amara’s apartment.”
Zain ended the call.
During the entire drive, I was anxious.
When we arrived at Amara’s building, I rushed into the
elevator.
Zain followed closely, concerned I might stumble.
At the tenth floor, I burst out of the elevator and spotted Amara’s door standing open, with Kingsley positioned there.
From within, I could barely make out Amara’s crying.
My heart dropped, and I rushed forward.
But at the doorway, I paused. I looked inside and saw Amara huddled in the corner of the sofa, wrapped in a blanket. She was holding herself, weeping and trembling, her gaze empty, staring at nothing- completely vacant.
I entered and slowly approached Amara.

Sitting down on the couch, I noticed Amara’s hair was completely disheveled, bruises covered her body,
blood was smeared on her mouth, and her nails were
stained red.
I couldn’t bear to imagine what had occurred–much
less ask.
I simply reached out carefully, my touch gentle as I made contact with Amara’s hand. I softly spoke her name, “Amara.”
Amara flinched violently when I touched her, her
entire body wracked with another intense tremor. She looked at me with unfocused, empty eyes, clearly not recognizing me.
In her panic, she kept sliding away, repeating
continuously, “No, stay back. Leave me alone, leave me alone.”
I felt my chest constrict painfully watching this.
I gripped Amara’s hand, my voice calm and reassuring.
“Amara, it’s Blanche. I’m here–please look at me. Just look at me.”

Amara couldn’t comprehend anything I was saying. She shook her head frantically, pressing her palms firmly against her ears, tears flowing down her face.
I pulled her into a firm hug, stroking her back desperately trying to calm her, my words rushing out in concern. “Amara, what happened? Please tell me, what happened?”
Amara remained quiet, her breathing ragged and labored.
I was about to ease my grip when Amara suddenly clamped her teeth down hard on my shoulder.
I felt a sharp pain, but I clenched my jaw and suppressed any sound.
Amara bit as if she was trying to tear away a piece of my shoulder.
When Amara finally released me, she screamed at me, “You beast! You disgusting beast!”
Tears ran down my face as I watched Amara in this state.

Zain’s POV
In the hallway outside, I arrived just then and witnessed everything happening inside. I looked at Kingsley with concern and saw Kingsley appearing seriously disturbed and tense.
I moved forward and gave Kingsley a comforting pat on the shoulder–words weren’t needed.
Kingsley turned to me, his face showing guilt and remorse. “This is my fault. If I hadn’t screwed up, Marquis never would’ve attacked her like this.”
I opened my mouth but couldn’t find words. I was at a
loss.
Kingsley looked down, his voice weighted with regret. “I was too slow. If I’d arrived just minutes sooner, she wouldn’t be in this condition.”
I understood Kingsley’s feelings. I realized there was no use in saying more, so I simply asked, “What’s the plan? What will you do?”
Kingsley exhaled deeply. “I’ve already contacted Noelle. This case–we must see it through to the end.”

I nodded. “We need to stop any gossip before it spreads. If this gets out, Amara will suffer the most.””
Kingsley agreed. “Right, I understand.”
I looked at Kingsley again. “Where’s Marquis Landon?”
“He ran the moment I arrived,” Kingsley responded.
I considered this, then said, “He won’t get away.”
We waited outside for a while before Blanche finally emerged from the room.
When she stepped out, her expression was dejected and distant, and fresh blood was still seeping from her shoulder.
I rushed over immediately when I saw her. I wanted to ask about her shoulder, but after considering it, I chose to stay silent.
Obviously, Amara had bitten her.
If it had been anyone else, I would have been livid, but right now, Amara’s condition was what mattered most.

Kingsley also looked at Blanche, his voice filled with worry. “Blanche, is Amara feeling any better?”
Blanche looked up at Kingsley, desperately wanting to ask why he had contacted Amara in such a dangerous way, but the words wouldn’t come.
She thought, ‘How could any of this be Kingsley’s responsibility? The real culprit is Marquis. Yes, it’s him. Marquis.‘
After struggling with a whirlwind of emotions, Blanche finally managed to speak to Kingsley and me, “Watch over her for a while, okay? I need to go out, but I’ll
return soon.”
Outwardly, her expression was calm and peaceful- there wasn’t the slightest indication of what she truly felt inside.
I hesitated, obviously concerned. “Where are you headed?”
She replied, “Amara said she wanted some trotter stew. I’m
