262 Chapter 262 Keep The Promise
You Made
Blanche’s POVO
After I left, I rushed directly to the pharmacy at the neighborhood entrance.
I grabbed the morning–after pill, paid quickly, and headed for the exit.
The moment I pushed through the curtain to leave, Zain was right there waiting for me.
If I hadn’t stopped short, I would’ve crashed straight into him.
Frantic and in a hurry, I barely glanced his way before trying to slip past him.
But he smoothly blocked my path, completely
unbothered. His voice dropped low, “Come home with me. Grandpa’s still waiting for you.”
Those words hit me, and I thought, ‘Maybe the old me would’ve cared. Maybe I would’ve actually gone with
him.‘

But now I reminded myself, ‘I’m finished putting everyone else first.
The only person who mattered to me now was me- and that wasn’t changing.
I raised my chin and gave Zain an icy stare.
“Blissfield Villa isn’t my home,” I said flatly.
His voice got even quieter, with a dangerous edge. “I don’t want to force you, but don’t test my patience.”
I didn’t even flinch. Instead, I snapped at him, “Get lost.”
With that, I didn’t care if Zain moved or not—I just walked around him and headed straight for Amara Jerry’s place.
But the second I took that first step, Zain suddenly grabbed my arm in a vise–like grip.
With his easy strength, he yanked me right back to him.
The morning–after pill slipped from my hand and hit

the ground as he dragged me back.
Zain spotted what had fallen from my grip. He glanced at me, then clearly intrigued, bent down to retrieve it.
I reached for it, trying to grab it back, but with only one good hand, I couldn’t match his strength.
Zain picked up the pill box, read the full name on the package, and in that moment, understanding dawned on him.
Zain clutched the pill box tightly, his eyes turning
ice–cold. He fixed me with a freezing stare, his voice rough and low as he demanded, “What, you actually took this?”
‘Perfect, he’s making assumptions,‘ I thought, seeing that expression on Zain’s face.
Not wanting to explain, I just shot back, “Yeah.”
Zain’s eyes narrowed, his voice suddenly razor–sharp. “Who was it for?”
I tilted my head back, meeting his challenge without hesitation. “None of your business.”
Zain’s dark eyes locked on me, unblinking.

With every step he took forward, I instinctively stepped back until the tension between us became razor–sharp.
I kept retreating until I was trapped against the wall with nowhere left to go. That’s when Zain finally stopped, towering over me, his shadow engulfing me completely. His voice came out hoarse as he
demanded, “Is it Vincent? Demetrius? Or someone
new now?”
Zain’s face contorted with pure disgust and mockery; he tore into me with every word, holding nothing
back.
My temper exploded as I yelled, “Zain, enough! Stop with your wild accusations!”
But Zain wasn’t fazed by my anger. He stepped even closer, trapping me completely, leaving me no escape.
He leaned down, his presence overwhelming, pinning me against the wall.
Rage poured off him, his tone harsh and demanding. “Tell me who did you take that pill for?”

I curled up in the corner, too frightened to look up, too exhausted to fight back. I was like a defenseless lamb, shaking and bracing for whatever came next.
Just then, I heard heavy, rapid footsteps approaching.
I recognized them immediately–it was Vincent.
My heart started racing, hope bursting inside me.
I knew–rescue had finally arrived.
Vincent appeared out of nowhere, marched straight up to Zain, and without hesitation, pulled me away from his intimidating presence.
He positioned himself directly in front of me, completely shielding me from Zain’s view.
Vincent stared Zain down, arrogance and contempt flashing in his eyes. “And what, exactly, do you want her to answer?” he shot back.
Zain recognized Vincent was provoking him, but he showed no sign of irritation–he just smirked and said, “You sure move fast, Mr. Aarav. I haven’t even divorced her yet, and you’re already lining up to take my place?”

Vincent just grinned, completely unfazed. “You got it. I’ve been waiting for this moment.”
Unlike those other pampered rich boys, Vincent genuinely couldn’t care less what people thought
about him.
Zain’s expression stiffened for a moment when he heard Vincent’s response, but then he scoffed, “So what if I just decide not to divorce her?”
Before Vincent could respond, I started to step
forward from behind him.
But Vincent didn’t let me–he casually pulled me right
back behind him.
Then he flashed Zain a lazy grin and said, “Then I’ll just play the side guy, her secret lover. Honestly, being all official is boring anyway–I’d rather have some fun and explore new territory with my girl…”
Zain had never encountered anyone like Vincent- completely shameless, with no sense of propriety or boundaries whatsoever.
Right now, fury was building in his chest like a

crushing weight, nearly choking him.
Zain shot Vincent a withering glare and snapped, “She just had her wounds treated–are you really in that much of a rush to push her until she shatters?”
Vincent’s face went cold. “Save your fake concern. I treasure her more than you ever will.”
Zain sneered, “Oh really? If you care so much, why’d you let her go out alone to get the morning–after pill?”
Vincent couldn’t be bothered explaining. He just replied flatly, “You don’t know what you’re talking about, so keep your mouth shut.”
I didn’t want to stick around any longer–my mind was on Amara Jerry, and anxiety was eating at me.
I impatiently tugged Vincent’s sleeve and said, “Let’s just go. He’s not worth the hassle.”
With that, I turned and started walking down the steps.
But just as I passed Zain, he reached out and grabbed
my arm.

I stopped dead in my tracks, turning to face him. I heard him say, “Blanche, think carefully. If you walk away now, don’t expect me to come back for you again. That’s virtually impossible.”
Without even pausing, I replied coldly, “I made up my mind long ago. It’s better if we just stay out of each other’s lives permanently.”
Then, without a trace of hesitation, I walked away from Zain without looking back.
Zain’s POV
I just stood there, watching her leave, and suddenly, a sharp pain twisted in my chest.
I couldn’t quite explain it–everything just felt wrong, like there was this gaping void inside me I couldn’t fill.
Blanche’s POV
Before getting in the car, I paused for a moment, resting my hand on the door. I glanced back at Zain,

still standing outside the pharmacy, and said, “The divorce waiting period’s almost over. Once it’s official, it’s each to their own–no more running into each other, no drama, just live our separate lives and leave each other alone for good.”
With that, I lowered my head and slipped into the passenger seat beside Vincent.
As the car pulled into the neighborhood and stopped, that’s when I noticed Vincent was actually smiling.
It wasn’t some exaggerated grin—just a quiet, subtle sort of smile.
Seeing him like that, I couldn’t help but ask, “What are you smiling about?”
Vincent turned to me, a genuine smile playing at his lips, but there was no hiding the tears shimmering in his eyes.
After a long moment, he blinked back the emotion, his voice dropping to a whisper. “You can finally keep the promise you made.”
I furrowed my brows in confusion. “Vincent, I’ve never

promised you anything. Honestly, I don’t even remember us meeting before. As far as I can recall, the first time we ever met was that rainy night–when you gave me your umbrella and put your coat around my shoulders.”
