317 Chapter 3171 Have My Own Parents
317 Chapter 317 I Have My Own
Parents
Blanche’s POVO
The bitter winter wind whipped through Kingsley Jim’s hair as he stood waiting at the corner, the cold seeping deep into his bones.
Amara Jerry went rigid the moment she spotted him.
Ever since the incident, Kingsley had stuck close to Amara’s side, only stepping away when work demanded his presence at the office.
Amara wasn’t blind to his devotion; she could feel how deeply he cared.
But her thoughts kept circling back to the same painful question: ‘How could someone as damaged as me ever be worthy of someone like Kingsley?‘
When Amara and I climbed out of the car, Kingsley finally approached us.
He gave me a courteous nod as he drew near.

“Blanche.”
I was about to set him straight, but Kingsley had
already shifted his attention to Amara. “Where did you go?”
Amara didn’t try to sugarcoat it. “I went to see Marquis.”
Kingsley’s smile flickered, but he kept his tone gentle. “How did it go? Did he say anything?”
Amara shook her head. “He didn’t really say much.”
I’d always known exactly how Kingsley felt about
Amara.
But watching them now, I couldn’t read what was going through his head anymore.
Seeing how late it had gotten, I turned to Amara. “Amara, let Mr. Jim take you home. I won’t come up.”
Amara obviously didn’t want me to leave, but she understood I had my own battles to fight, so she just nodded. “Okay, text me when you get home.”
I waved them off. “Alright, you two head inside.”

After Kingsley and Amara vanished into the building, I finally turned and walked away alone.
I didn’t think to call Zain, and grabbing a cab home never even crossed my mind.
Just like Amara, my thoughts were scattered everywhere.
I drifted aimlessly, losing count of how many street corners I’d passed.
At the next intersection, the moment the light turned green, I stepped into the crosswalk.
But suddenly, strong hands grabbed my arm.
I whipped around to find Zain’s striking face right in
front of me.
My breath caught—but before I could speak, Zain cut in first. “You promised to call me. Why don’t you ever keep your word? Were you planning to trick me again?”
“No, I was just about to call you,” I protested, waving my phone to back up my claim.

Noticing how distracted I looked, without even a hint of a smile, Zain’s brow creased with worry. “What’s wrong? Are you upset?”
I shook my head, avoiding those piercing eyes of his.
“No.”
Since I wasn’t ready to talk, Zain didn’t push. He simply took my hand gently and said, “There’s something I need to discuss with you.”
He was rarely this serious, so I looked at him. “Alright,
what is it?”
Zain said, “Come back and help me take care of Sue.”
I froze, completely blindsided by his request.
But the next moment, I kept my voice level and replied, “Once we get divorced, you’ll have full custody of Sue. You’ll need to handle everything for her.”
Zain studied my face, his voice dropping low. “Is there really no room for discussion?”
I didn’t waver. “None at all.”
Seeing how resolute I was, Zain dropped the subject.

Throughout the drive back, Zain focused on the road while I leaned back, feigning sleep.
Neither of us spoke a single word.
When we reached Blissfield Villa, I headed straight to the guest room without looking back.
Zain’s POV
Once Blanche disappeared into her room, I turned and went to my own bedroom.
Every time I thought about Blanche refusing to help with Sue, my mood darkened further.
Sleep eluded me completely that night.
The next morning, I was up before dawn.
It wasn’t even seven when I was already downstairs, watching the morning news on TV.
Blanche didn’t appear until nearly eight. By
seven–thirty, Heidi had already taken Carry to kindergarten.

As Blanche descended the stairs, I glanced over and asked, “Want some breakfast?”
Blanche wore a fluffy long coat in pale blue, the color making her skin look incredibly soft and delicate.
She didn’t look my way, just responded with a quiet, nasal “Mm.”
With that, she headed straight for the dining room.
I finally put down my tablet and followed her.
We ate in complete silence, the quiet only interrupted when my phone started buzzing.
My phone sat right there on the table. In the past, Blanche would’ve definitely glanced over to see who was calling, but now, she didn’t even blink.
The screen showed Oswald’s name. I hesitated briefly, then answered.
Oswald’s voice came through. “Have you had breakfast yet?”
“Yeah, I’m eating now,” I replied.
“Are you alone?” Oswald asked.

“No, Blanche’s here too,” I said.
“Blanche’s there? Perfect. I was calling to say New
Year’s Day is coming up. Why don’t you all come back with Sue for the holiday? It’s been forever since our whole family got together properly.”
I glanced at Blanche, who couldn’t care less, before responding, “Got it, Grandpa.”
Oswald continued, “Alright, enjoy your breakfast. Try to get Blanche back early–Kaden’s been missing her cooking for ages.”
I didn’t respond to that comment. “Alright, I’m hanging
up now.”
“Okay,” Oswald replied.
After ending the call, I turned to Blanche. “Did you hear what Grandpa said?”
Blanche still wouldn’t look up, her voice turning icy. “Just go with Sue. I’m not sure I’ll have time.”
I frowned, irritation creeping into my voice. “You’re always busy. What could be that important?”

Blanche set her spoon down and finally met my eyes. “I have my own parents, my own brother and sister–in–law. I want to spend time with my family for once, let them finally taste my cooking”
In five years of marriage, I’d always made sure Blanche came back with me to Jacob Manor for the holidays- but it had never once occurred to me to take her to visit the Callum family.
When Blanche said that, I was stunned silent, completely at a loss for words.
Just then, my phone suddenly rang again, breaking the tense silence in the room.
I answered–it was a call from Carry’s kindergarten teacher.
“Hi, is this Carry’s dad?” the teacher asked.
“Yeah, this is her dad,” I replied.
“Sorry I forgot to mention earlier–Carry hasn’t been at school the last couple of days. For New Year’s Day, we’re having a special event at the kindergarten and wanted to invite all the parents to join us,” the teacher

explained.
I paused before responding, “Okay, I got it.”
The teacher added, “Carry missed the last couple of dance practices, so we may need to give her extra attention to help her catch up. Thanks for your understanding.”
I kept my frustration in check and just said, “Mm.”
Honestly, all I cared about was Carry having fun and eating well at school.
As for the rest, I didn’t want Carry stressed about performance—she was still so young, it wasn’t the time
for that.
After hanging up, I glanced at Blanche again.
But before I could speak, Blanche was already cutting me off. “I’m not going. Have Joanna take Carry
instead.”
I just nodded. “Mm.”
So I sent Joanna a quick text, asking her to take Carry to the kindergarten event on New Year’s Day.

And Joanna didn’t respond.
Hours passed, and still no word from her.
I’d almost forgotten about it, but when I saw Joanna’s Twitter update about the concert, that’s when it hit me–she still hadn’t replied to my message from this morning.
On Twitter, Joanna and Drew appeared arm in arm at the concert, looking completely smitten–plenty of people would envy seeing that.
Honestly, I couldn’t even identify what I was feeling at that moment, but I immediately dialed Joanna’s
number.
