70 Chapter 70 She Has Every Right
Blanche’s POV 1
Panic twisted in my stomach at the thought of Kaden getting hurt. If something happened to him, Ophelia would pin the blame squarely
on me. The idea alone made my blood boil.
Still, tracking down Kaden had to come first.
The moment we stepped through the bar’s entrance, the thundering music hit like a physical force, threatening to burst my eardrums.
Bodies writhed on the dance floor, moving in rhythm with the pounding beat.
Zain pushed ahead, creating a barrier between me and the hungry stares surrounding us. I kept my eyes down, staying close behind him.
We reached the VIP section where endless hallways stretched in both directions, doors lining each side. Zain clearly had no idea which
room might hold Kaden.
After what felt like forever, I finally broke the silence. “Maybe we should divide up and check both sides?”
Zain nodded. “Sounds smart. Yell if you run into trouble. I’ll be there in seconds.”
I met his gaze but said nothing. A moment later, I turned toward the right hallway.
The second I stepped inside, vulgar curses and sexual moans assaulted my ears. I pushed the sounds aside, rapping on door after door.
One door swung open, revealing a man who looked me up and down, rubbing his chin. “Who’s your boss? Why don’t you come have a
drink with me?”
Others just barked at me. “What the hell do you want? We’re not buying anything. Are you out of your mind?”
After hitting nearly every door, I figured Kaden wasn’t anywhere in this section.
Then a violent crash exploded from the room at the corridor’s end, followed by someone bellowing, “Who do you think you are? Don’t
you dare speak to me that way!”
Kaden’s voice–no question about it.
Another voice fired back, “Touch my woman and you’ll regret it!”
A fight was brewing.
Afraid things would spiral out of control, I rushed toward the commotion.
I kicked the door open, and every head in the room snapped toward me. The men about to throw punches froze.
Kaden was rolling up his sleeves while the guy beside him dug into his pocket for something. Whatever he was reaching for, it couldn’t be good.
The room held just a handful of people–Kaden stood alone against three men and one woman. If this turned physical, he’d be crushed.

I forced myself to stay calm, catching Kaden’s eye and keeping my voice low. “Kaden, come here. Now.”
Seeing me only made Kaden’s temper explode. “I’ll come when I damn well feel like it. Who are you to give me orders?”
I shot him an ice–cold stare. “Your brother’s here too.” Maybe Zain‘ presence would snap him out of it.
The men who’d been arguing with Kaden looked puzzled as they studied me. When Kaden dismissed me, their expressions turned
mocking and aggressive.
I ignored their attitude and glanced at the girl crying in the corner.
From what I’d heard, Kaden had clearly started this mess. Determined to stop things from getting worse, I stepped forward, grabbed a
beer bottle, and announced, “Listen up, everyone. I’m Blanche Callum, Kaden’s sister–in–law.
“He’s young and stupid, and he wronged this girl. I’m here to apologize for him. This drink is my way of making amends.”
I lifted the bottle to my lips, but Kaden sneered, “What’s the point of this circus? Joanna is the one my brother actually wants.”
My hand hesitated for just a second, but I forced a bitter smile and downed the entire bottle in one gulp.
Watching me drain it, Kaden scoffed, “Who’s this performance for? Nobody cares about your little act.”
I didn’t let his words sting. Turning back to the group, I said, “Tonight’s tab is on me. I’m taking Kaden and leaving.”
They watched me finish the whole bottle and looked at me with new respect. After hearing my offer, the tension dissolved and they
backed down.
Just as everyone started exchanging pleasantries, Kaden suddenly exploded, “Blanche, who asked you to stick your nose in my business?
You think I need your help?”
I looked at Kaden calmly. “Your brother’s waiting outside.”
But Kaden only grew more furious. “I’m not going anywhere with you.”
I could only sigh and turn to the others. “You guys can head out. Sorry we caused problems tonight.”
They muttered a few polite words and left.
Alone with Kaden now, he flew into a rage, sweeping bottles and cans off the table. The crashing made me flinch and squeeze my eyes
shut.
Kaden screamed, “Blanche, do you know your place? Who gives you the right to order me around? You’re just a tool for our family-
worth less than the help. If anyone gets to boss me around, it’s Joanna, not you. Get lost.”
Listening to his rant, I couldn’t help but laugh bitterly. I walked up to him and, without warning, slapped him hard across the face.
“Kaden, listen carefully,” I said coldly. “I’ve sacrificed plenty for the Jacob family. You don’t need to thank me, but if you’re going to spit
poison, save it.
“If I wasn’t worried about you getting yourself killed out here, I wouldn’t waste a second on you.”
I turned to leave, but Kaden, enraged, grabbed my arm. “You hit me? You’ve got a death wish!”

He raised his hand to strike back. I shut my eyes tight, bracing for the blow.
But the pain never came. Instead, I felt a rush of air as something stopped Kaden’s hand mid–swing.
Opening my eyes, I saw Zain gripping Kaden’s wrist.
Seeing his brother, Kaden immediately shouted, “Zain, put Blanche in her place! She hit me. Even Mom and Dad never did that, and she
thinks she can slap me. Do something!”
I assumed Zain would side with his brother, but he spoke up, “She’s your sister–in–law. She has every right to discipline you. Whatever
her reason for hitting you, you take it.”
Kaden went still. “Zain, I’m your brother. How can you defend an outsider?”
I was equally stunned. But then I realized Zain wasn’t protecting me because he saw me as his wife.
He was just covering for me since we were staying at Jacob Manor. If I got hurt, we’d both face Oswald’s wrath.
Zain ignored Kaden’s fury and said in a low, commanding tone, “Go home.”
Kaden didn’t dare challenge Zain, so he swallowed his rage.
The three of us left the bar together. I took the passenger seat, Kaden sulked in the back, and Zain drove. Nobody spoke, and the tension
was suffocating.
Kaden seethed, his gaze boring into the back of my head, his expression pure hatred.
Even though I understood Zain‘ motives, I couldn’t stop thinking about his words. I wondered if he truly saw me as his wife.
But then again, there didn’t seem to be much more than that between us anyway.
