74 Chapter 74 No Place To Hide
Blanche’s POV
I stood facing Marquis, completely unaware that Zain and Drew had just stepped out of the private room behind me. I didn’t notice the
two men at all.
Marquis, too, was oblivious to their presence. He pulled me into his arms, his eyes scanning me with blatant flirtation.
Despite his dislike for me, he couldn’t deny that I had an incredible figure. Now, in that tight dress, my curves on full display, he couldn’t
help but feel a slight attraction.
Marquis grabbed my hand tight, and when I tried to pull away, he just gripped me even harder.
Still, 1 yanked back with all my strength, not caring if I hurt myself.
Marquis wasn’t really using all his strength, so when I gave it everything I had, I actually managed to break free.
But as I broke free, I stumbled backward from the momentum, not even having time to worry about falling before someone caught me.
Strong arms wrapped around me, stopping me from tumbling any further.
When I straightened up, I nodded slightly and said, “Thanks.” But when I looked up, I found myself face–to–face with Zain.
His features were sharp, with a chiseled jawline, and his eyes held an unreadable expression. He looked down at me, his brow slightly
furrowed, probably wondering why I was here.
I even wondered if he thought I was stalking him. After all, it wouldn’t be the first time I had done something like that, and I felt a bit
embarrassed.
Meanwhile, Drew stood off to the side, looking angry. He clearly wanted to say something, but before he could, Amara came over.
“Marquis, Blanche, you’re here,” Amara called out as she walked over. She stood next to Marquis and linked her arm through his.
Amara noticed something was off with Marquis. As she glanced at me, she spotted Zain nearby.
Although she wasn’t sure what had happened, Amara immediately sensed that there had been some conflict between me and Marquis.
But with Zain there, Amara didn’t press for details. Instead, she leaned in and said softly to Marquis, “Marquis, let’s step outside for a bit.”
Marquis felt uneasy, worried I might spill something to Amara. Not wanting any drama, he just nodded and said, “Alright.”
After they left, I figured it was time for me to leave as well.
But before I could take another step, Drew shot me a mocking look and said, “Blanche, you really can’t keep your hands off guys, huh?”
I stopped and turned back, my lips curling into a sarcastic smile. “Seriously, what are you trying to get at?”
Drew didn’t mince words. “You are such a slut.”
The insult didn’t faze me at all. Instead, I was more focused on Zain’s reaction. But he didn’t even look up, too busy typing away on his phone, completely ignoring Drew.

I could bet it was Joanna he was texting.
Clearly, Zain didn’t care about Drew’s insults. In his mind, any of his friends could walk all over me. Unlike Joanna, who was treated with
respect, thinking about it only made me feel a sense of self–mockery.
But faced with their insults and mockery, I wasn’t about to let it slide. I shot back, my voice dripping with sarcasm, “Mr. Stewart, you call
me a slut, but are you really any better?”
Drew stretched out his words, smirking, “Oh, please. I’m nothing like you–I don’t mess around with a bunch of people at once.”
I just gave a faint, dismissive smile. “Look who’s talking.”
I threw Drew a scornful glance, then looked over at Zain, who was still busy texting.
Something stung inside me, and I let out a bitter laugh before turning away and walking off.
As I stepped out of the restaurant, I heard someone call out, “Blanche!”
I turned and saw Amara standing under a tree. “You haven’t left yet?” I asked.
“I was waiting for you,” Amara said.
I walked over, my expression calm. “If you’ve got something to say, just say it.”
Amara could sense my coldness, but she kept going. “I just talked to Marquis. He said you saw him adding a girl on WhatsApp, but
Blanche, he was just adding her. It doesn’t mean he’s actually going to do anything. You can’t just hit him like that in public. He’s a man,
he cares about his reputation. You…”
I cut her off, my voice sharp. “So, what, I’m the bad guy here?”
Amara quickly tried to explain, “Blanche, that’s not what I meant. I know you’re just looking out for me, but he’s my future husband, and
you’re my best friend. I don’t want you two to misunderstand each other.”
Hearing Amara still defending Marquis, I felt a surge of anger. I didn’t hold back. “If he really wanted to marry you, he wouldn’t make you wait this long. You know how many years you’ve been waiting.”
Amara lowered her head, her voice barely above a whisper. “He will, Blanche. He’ll marry me.”
I cut in, not wanting to hear any more. “So, how are you getting home?”
I’ll just grab a cab,” Amara replied.
“What about Marquis? Isn’t he going with you?” I asked.
Amara paused, then said, “I already told him to go ahead without me.” Amara had told Marquis to leave first, just so I and Marquis wouldn’t end up fighting again.
I didn’t ask why, I simply said, “Let me take you home.”
In the car, Amara kept reminiscing about the old days, and my eyes grew misty with emotion.
Even though 1 got what Amara meant, I still couldn’t see Marquis any differently.

Before long. Amara hopped out, and I watched her head into the building before driving off
But just then, someone tapped on my window.
I turned, and to my surprise, it was Demetrius standing there.
I rolled down the window, my brows furrowed in confusion. “Demetrius, what are you doing here?”
Demetrius was dressed casually, leaning down to look at me. His face was partly hidden in the shadows, but it only made him look more
striking.
He smiled at me. “I was about to ask you the same thing. What are you doing here?”
I said, “Just gave a friend a ride home.”
Demetrius nodded and grinned, “Since we’re both here, wanna grab some late–night eats?”
I laughed. “Sounds good.”
With my car right there, I let Demetrius ride shotgun.
We drove to a popular snack shop. Before sitting down, Demetrius wiped down the chairs and table with a wet wipe, showing great
consideration.
I smiled at him. “Demetrius, seriously, you don’t have to do all that.”
Demetrius just gave me a quiet smile and kept at it, making sure every spot I might touch was spotless.
Just as Demetrius sat down, he spotted a few people walking in. It was Zain, Drew, Nicholas, and Joanna.
They picked a spot and sat down.
Drew noticed me first and nudged Zain, signaling him to look my way.
When Zain glanced over, I was already looking at him. Our eyes met for a brief moment before both quickly looked away.
Seeing them, I felt a bit irritated, but all I wanted was to enjoy a quiet meal with Demetrius.
After ordering, as we were waiting for the food, Drew suddenly stood up and walked over.
