4 Chapter 94 A Frantic Call A Lie
Blanche’s POV 1
That evening at the Callum Mansion, Camila and I returned home together. Camila rushed straight to the kitchen to warm up the egg
pancakes she’d prepared that morning.
She carried them out and hovered nearby, watching nervously as I sampled them.
The pancakes weren’t particularly tasty, but I cleaned my plate completely, heaping praise on Camila while casually mentioning a few
improvements she could try.
Camila absorbed every suggestion eagerly, vowing to perfect them next time.
Following dinner, our entire family came together for some heartwarming conversation.
When I headed upstairs to freshen up and grabbed my phone, I was stunned to discover many missed calls–all from Zain.
I was still processing this when my phone buzzed to life again.
Zain was calling yet again.
My instincts screamed that something urgent must have happened.
I picked up immediately.
Before I could speak, Zain’s voice exploded through the speaker, sharp and frantic. “Blanche, what are you doing? Why haven’t you been
answering my calls?”
His rapid–fire questions immediately irritated me, and I shot back, “Zain, is what I’m doing any of your business?”
Zain interrupted, clearly not wanting to fight. “Carry is sick. You need to come over here immediately and examine her.”
The instant I heard Carry was ill, my heart dropped. I bolted upright from the bed, not caring that I was still wearing pajamas, and
marched straight out of my bedroom.
Walking out, I demanded, “What’s wrong? She seemed perfectly healthy this afternoon.”
Zain’s voice softened, becoming much gentler now. “Heidi said Carry went upstairs after dinner, but she kept complaining about
stomach pain, and soon after, she vomited up everything she’d eaten.”
Terror struck me. I raced downstairs.
It was quite late, and I didn’t want to disturb anyone at home. So I snatched my keys, snuck out by myself, and drove straight to Blissfield
Villa.
When I reached Blissfield Villa, I discovered Heidi holding Carry tightly, pacing anxiously back and forth across the living room.
The moment Heidi heard the door open, the worry in her expression dissolved. “Mrs. Jacob, you’re finally here.”
Seeing me, tears gathered in Heidi’s eyes. She was on the verge of breaking down completely.

The rain continued steadily, though not as heavily as this morning’s downpour.
I was so frantic that I rushed inside without grabbing an umbrella, my pajamas getting dampened by the rain.
I dropped my keys, didn’t pause to remove my shoes, and hurried to Heidi, lifting Carry into my arms.
Carry was barely awake, and when she spotted me entering, she whispered softly, “Mom.”
I gently pressed my hand against Carry’s forehead, relieved to find it cool. She wasn’t running a fever, so that probably wasn’t the issue.
“Carry, can you tell me if anything else is bothering you?” I asked tenderly.
As a pediatric surgeon, I was completely experienced with situations like this.
Carry felt so weak and exhausted. She didn’t even have energy to give me attitude.
When someone felt vulnerable, all they wanted was someone they trusted nearby.
For Carry, seeing me right now was like a starving child finally spotting food.
Carry nestled into my arms, her voice hoarse. “Mom, my stomach hurts and I feel dizzy.”
I carefully palpated Carry’s abdomen, questioning her systematically.
After my examination, I suspected she was probably dealing with digestive issues.
Though I was a doctor, without proper tests, I couldn’t make a definitive diagnosis.
Without hesitation, I lifted Carry into my arms. “Carry, I’m taking you to the hospital. We’ll get your stomach checked with imaging.”
When Carry heard we were going to the hospital, tears immediately welled in her eyes. “Mom, I’m scared.”
I gently caressed her cheek, comforting her softly. “Don’t be afraid, Carry. I’m here. I won’t abandon you.”
Regardless of how Carry had treated me before, nothing mattered more than her health right now.
I carried Carry in my arms and rushed out of Blissfield Villa, while Heidi chased after us, holding an umbrella to shield us from the rain.
We all hurried to the hospital together. I had Carry undergo an abdominal ultrasound, and the results revealed she had indigestion and
some swollen lymph nodes in her abdomen.
Carry appeared pale and wan, so I decided to keep her in the ER temporarily, waiting until she improved before going home.
I got her some digestive medication and probiotics. Heidi brought over warm water, and I helped Carry swallow her pills.
After taking her medicine, Carry couldn’t fall asleep. She leaned weakly against the bed rail, watching me. “Mom, I’m hungry.”
She’d vomited everything from her stomach, so naturally, she was hungry now.
My heart ached with concern as I reached out to touch Carry’s forehead. “What would you like to eat? I’ll go get it for you.”
Carry murmured, “I want some cereal”
I gave her a gentle smile. “Alright.”

I asked Heidi to stay with Carry. Then, taking my umbrella, I left the hospital.
After a night of rushing around, I finally exited the hospital. I realized I was still wearing pajamas, my hair disheveled. I looked completely unkempt and drained.
Just a few hundred yards from the hospital, the rain suddenly intensified dramatically. Even with my umbrella, my shoes and pant legs were thoroughly soaked.
I didn’t care about my appearance. My only focus was Carry’s empty stomach. So I pushed through the downpour and finally reached a
24–hour restaurant. I left my umbrella by the entrance and walked inside, only to bump directly into Desmond.
Desmond frowned slightly when he saw me standing there in pajamas and called out, “Mrs. Jacob?”
I mumbled a response, and only then did Zain enter my thoughts.
I’d been so concerned about Carry that I’d completely forgotten about Zain.
Carry was ill. Even if he was buried in work, Zain should have returned to Blissfield Villa.
In a crisis like this, if he couldn’t reach me, shouldn’t he have rushed Carry to the hospital himself?
I hadn’t had time to consider any of this earlier, but now, encountering Desmond, all those questions suddenly surfaced.
I couldn’t help asking, “Is Zain still working?”
Desmond looked surprised. “Huh?”
I frowned, “Carry is sick. He said he had to work late for a meeting tonight. Is he still trapped in that meeting?”
It was late evening. He worked late occasionally, but rarely this late.
Desmond answered without hesitation, “Mr. Jacob wasn’t in a meeting. He left the office earlier this afternoon.”
I froze momentarily. “What?”
Desmond suddenly appeared panicked. “I…”
Realizing he’d revealed something he shouldn’t have, Desmond quickly averted his gaze, avoiding my eyes.
I was beginning to understand, but I didn’t create a scene. I just looked at him calmly and said, “Understood. You can return to work
now.”
Desmond seemed confused, his face showing bewilderment as if he couldn’t grasp what exactly I’d understood. I could see the
uncertainty in his expression, the way he shifted uncomfortably, probably wondering if he should say more or explain himself. But I had
no interest in pressing him further or demanding explanations that would only confirm what I already suspected.
I didn’t linger. I went directly to the counter, ordered a bowl of cereal, and requested it to–go.
Once I received my order, I walked out of the restaurant without another word to Desmond. As I stepped back into the rain, I caught a
glimpse of him through the window, still standing frozen where I’d left him, staring after me with what looked like genuine concern. His posture suggested he was torn between following me and staying put, but I disappeared into the stormy night before he could make up
