The Platonic Trap novel Chapter 99

Hearing the words 'confess his feelings,' Celia raised an eyebrow slightly, waking up a bit.

"What confession? How do you know?" Celia asked.

"Jacob started a group chat and wanted us to help him brainstorm!" After a pause, the girl continued, "But I figured I should check with you first, so I'm secretly calling to give you a heads-up."

Celia's popularity at Capital University was actually pretty average. After all, she didn't live in the dorms, and in everyone's eyes, she was the Stafford heiress. Compared to Evelyn Morgan, the quintessential helpful honors student, Celia seemed much less approachable.

Celia had accidentally helped this female classmate once. They interacted occasionally and were on good terms.

Other than her, no one had told Celia about Jacob planning to confess.

The students at Capital University knew nothing about Celia's impending "marriage" to Talbot Forrester. To them, Celia was just an aloof, single heiress.

Jacob Linden?

Celia searched her memory for the name.

Oh, she remembered. It was that guy she had seen in the library a few times.

During those days, Celia had spent all her time at the library researching for her thesis. Every time she sat in her usual spot, that guy was sitting across from her.

Later, when she was desperately searching for a rare reference book, he pushed the book over to her with a note slipped inside.

[I heard the librarian say you were looking for this book. You can read it first.]

Yours, Jacob Linden.

She had run into Jacob a few times elsewhere and exchanged greetings, but their interactions ended there.

Celia had absolutely no idea what possessed him to confess his feelings to her.

Accepting him was out of the question, but curving her lips, Celia thought of a brilliant idea.

"I... I barely know Jacob. He's really putting me in a tough spot..."

Celia spoke to the girl on the phone, her tone timid and worried.

Glancing at his cuffs, Celia noticed the cufflinks he was wearing today. They were the ones she had gifted him.

Alistair turned to look at her, taking in her outfit, and gave a slight nod.

Gesturing to the dining room, Alistair spoke slowly, "I brought some breakfast. See if you like it."

"Thank you," Celia smiled. "Have you eaten yet? Let's eat together!"

Alistair nodded, and they sat down at the table together.

The man had brought an elegant breakfast spread, which suited Celia's taste perfectly.

As they ate, Celia asked, "Uncle Alistair, don't you have work today?"

"Not much. Leaving it to Ken is enough."

Celia couldn't help but shiver. She couldn't shake the feeling that Alistair was quite vindictive.
