Yvonne rushed into the Fulton house and found Judie standing nervously by the sofa.
"Judie!" Yvonne demanded, breathless. "Tell me right now, what exactly is—"
The words died in her throat.
Her gaze drifted past Judie and locked onto two familiar figures standing shoulder-to-shoulder by the floor-to-ceiling windows. The afternoon sunlight poured in, illuminating them perfectly.
Yvonne's eyes widened in sheer disbelief. Her jaw dropped, and her feet rooted to the floor as if she had been turned to stone.
"Mr. Langley? Leilani? Is it really you? You're... you're really alive?"
Leilani turned and walked over to her with a gentle smile.
"Yvonne. We're fine. I'm sorry for making you worry."
Leilani guided her to the sofa and briefly explained the nightmare they had endured in Myanor and the chaos of their covert return. She hadn't intentionally kept Yvonne in the dark; between hunting for the mysterious mastermind and orchestrating high-stakes medical treatments, the days had blurred together in a frantic rush.
Yvonne understood. The sheer magnitude of their situation made a missed text message completely irrelevant.
But the initial euphoric relief of seeing Leilani alive was quickly eclipsed by the heavy reality of her father's arrest.
She looked at Leilani and Callahan, then at Judie's guilty expression. It clicked. This wasn't a casual reunion. They were here specifically to talk to her. A terrifying realization chilled her blood.
Yvonne looked up at Leilani, her voice trembling. "Leilani... my dad... his arrest. Does it... does it have something to do with you two?"
