Chapter 395 Fixed Their Rift
Leighton spoke quietly.
He stood up, holding the sleeping girl, and walked into Celine’s room.
He took off her shoes and gently laid her down under the covers.
Zora had only slept for about an hour on his shoulder. It was not nearly enough rest.

As soon as she felt the soft sheets, she rolled over, wrapped herself in the blanket, and fell right back asleep.
Leighton made sure she was sound asleep, then quietly closed the door and stepped out.
“Why was Zora outside earlier?”
Celine eyed him with clear doubt.
Zora was still so young. She hoped Leighton hadn’t done anything wrong.
Celine had just gotten back from overseas after seven straight busy days with no break. She hadn’t rested at all before Garrett got sick.
She’d rushed over right away and slept very deeply, so she had no idea Zora had snuck out during the night.
It was still early, just past five in the morning.

Celine had been worried about Garrett and came out to check on him.
“She came out on her own. She was worried about me.”
Leighton turned around and walked to the small bar to pour himself a glass of water,
“Really? You didn’t sneak her out by yourself? Just like you used to do as a kid?”
Celine walked over, grabbed another cup, and held it out for Leighton.
She knew how clingy he was with Zora. The two were always together, never apart.
He was definitely the type to pull that kind of sneaky move.
Leighton had a history of doing tricky things when he was little.
He’d loved Samoyeds as a kid. His family got him one, and he always wanted the puppy to sleep in his room at night.

Their mom never allowed it. But one night when everyone was asleep, little Leighton snuck to the doghouse and carried the puppy back to his bedroom.
“I’d never do something creepy like that. My girl came out to keep me company on her own.”
Leighton saw the judging look in her eyes and slowly poured her a glass of warm water.
His sweet girl had felt bad for him and stayed with him willingly.
“My girl… Tsk, Leighton. You know what people say? You take care of your own wife.”
Celine took the water, took a small sip, and looked at her quiet brother.
Leighton’s brows twitched, but he said nothing.
“You can’t fool me.”
Celine smiled and teased him.
Leighton had always been quiet and reserved. But when he cared about someone, he spoiled them rotten without even noticing.
He’d kept Zora by his side for years, never letting her go.
He walked her to school and picked her up every day. He made sure she ate well at home. Whenever he traveled for work, he always brought her cute dresses.
He made fake snow for her and bought her balloons and flowers, just to make her smile.
He gave her anything she wanted.
This was way more than just taking care of a little sister figure.
Zora slept all the way through until morning.

Luckily, it was the weekend and she didn’t have school, or she would’ve been exhausted all day long.
She pushed open the bedroom door and walked out.
The hospital room was dead silent.
The second Zora stepped out, everyone’s eyes locked straight on her.
All those stares jolted her awake instantly.
She stepped back, pressed against the door, and tried to slip back into the room quietly.

Garrett was awake now. No one was talking, which made the room feel so quiet and tense.
“Zora.”
It was Garrett’s gentle voice, rough from his illness.
“Don’t run. Don’t be scared. You’re the one who helped our family.”
Leighton stood up and walked over to her side.
“Huh?”
Zora was totally confused.
She’d just slept through the night. What had happened while she was asleep?
She looked around, lost. Walter was grinning happily, Celine gave her a thumbs-up, and even
Finn, who almost never showed emotion, had a soft smile on his face.
Zora had no idea what was going on at all.
“What… what’s wrong?”
Zora walked over with Leighton and sat down next to the hospital bed.
This was their family’s private business. She felt like she didn’t belong there.
“Zora, you can ask for anything you want.”
Garrett smiled warmly at her nervous look.

“If you wanted stars from the sky, I’d make Leighton get them for you.”
“That’s your promise. Why do I have to do it?”
Leighton shot his dad a look.
He was really pushing it.
He’d overheard their conversation last night, and now he was making Leighton pay back the favor for him.
“I’m old now. I don’t have much time left.”
Garrett let out a soft huff.
“The doctor said I can’t stress myself out. Can’t you repay Zora’s kindness for me?”

“Repay me?”
Zora still didn’t understand.

She’d stayed up half the night before, and her brain was still foggy. She couldn’t think straight.
“Yes! The misunderstanding between them is finally gone!” Walter said excitedly.
“Who said we had a misunderstanding?” Leighton denied it right away.
“What misunderstanding?” Garrett tilted his head, acting stubborn.
