Chapter 101 Renting Clothes
Chapter 101 Renting Clothes
She looked completely sincere.
Nina didn’t smile.
As Katrina finished her water, Nina simply set her own glass back down.
She had no intention of making peace.
Besides, Katrina wasn’t part of her world anymore.
“Nina, I wish you the best.”

Chase picked up his glass and downed it in one go, not even giving Katrina a chance to stop him.
The people around them immediately sensed the tension–and the gossip potential.
Nina said nothing.
Back in her seat, Katrina was already upset over Chase speaking to Nina first.
She even tried placing food on his plate, but he didn’t touch a single bite.
“Chase, don’t you love beef? Try this–it’s really good.”
Katrina placed some food onto Chase’s plate. He looked completely fed up. Pushing his chair back, he stood. “I’m going to the restroom.”
With that, he walked out of the private room without a second glance, leaving Katrina hanging.
Feeling everyone’s eyes on her, Katrina forced a small smile. “I’ll go to the restroom too.”
Only after she left did the others start whispering among themselves.
“Did they have a fight or something?”
“Looks like it. Chase seemed really annoyed with her.”
Out in the hallway-
Chase headed quickly toward the restaurant exit. Katrina hurried after him. “Chase! Where are you going? Everyone’s still waiting inside!”

“I didn’t even want to come in the first place!”

He shook off her hand and said coldly, “What’s the point of renting clothes just to keep up appearances?”
The price tags were still on both of their outfits–just tucked away so no one would notice.
In reality, they were living in a cramped fifty–square–meter apartment in the suburbs. Getting by each day was already a struggle.
Chase worked for someone else and only made three or four thousand a month. Yet Katrina had casually spent a thousand just to rent these clothes.
What was the point of coming to a reunion like this?
They were no longer part of the same world as the high–achieving classmates sitting inside.
“And you’re yelling at me now? Why did you go talk to Nina earlier? Don’t tell me you still have feelings for her! Get real–she’s the Tann family’s daughter and about to study abroad. And you? You’re nothing now! I’m the only one who’d even take you! If you so much as look at her again, I’ll strangle your son–and then kill myself!”
Every word out of Katrina’s mouth was a threat.
For the past eight months, Chase had had more than enough of it. He’d lost count of how many times he’d heard the same thing.
“Then go ahead and strangle him.”
Chase didn’t even bother engaging.
They had a child out of wedlock and hadn’t even registered their marriage. To put it bluntly, the child didn’t even have proper legal status. Even if he broke up with Katrina now, it wouldn’t affect him at all.
Katrina’s face went pale the moment she heard that.
Without another word, Chase ripped off the expensive suit jacket and walked out of the
restaurant.
Not far away, Nina leaned against the wall, having overheard their argument in the lobby. A faint smile curved her lips.
So even a once–great love could turn rotten once you actually got it.
