Nina walked out at her own pace. She glanced up at the sky, and for the first time, the future felt wide open.
At the post–SAT dinner, Class A had gathered in a private room at a restaurant.
Charlotte leaned in and said, “Nina, did you hear? Katrina’s had the baby.”
It had been over eight months since Chase and Katrina were expelled.
In those eight months, everyone else had been preparing for the SAT.
Katrina, meanwhile, had been carrying a pregnancy.
Fate really was cruel.
What Nina had gone through in her past life was now happening to Katrina.
“We invited Chase and Katrina tonight,” Charlotte went on. “After all, they were part of Class A. This should be interesting.”
Class A had always been decent about things like this–they made sure to include them.
But more than anything, people were curious to see how things had turned out.
Nina sat quietly, saying nothing.
Charlotte stood up, raising her glass high. “Let’s toast to Nina for getting direct admission! We won’t all be seeing each other much after this!”
“Yeah! To Nina!”
Several classmates stood, ready to toast her.
Nina hadn’t even lifted her glass when a voice came from outside.
“Is this the private room?”
“Yes, right this way.”
The door opened, and Chase and Katrina walked in together.
They were clearly dressed up–both in designer brands.

Katrina had her arm looped through Chase’s, but it didn’t have the same easy closeness as before. It felt more like a show.
She smiled. “Long time no see, everyone. Traffic was bad, so we’re a bit late.”
At the sight of her, Tara’s expression darkened.
Back then, Katrina had sent some thugs after her. The incident eventually reached Dora, which led to both Katrina and Chase being expelled.
Tara hadn’t wanted to come tonight.
She’d only shown up because she’d heard Katrina wasn’t doing well–and wanted to see it for herself.
Chase didn’t say a word. His face stayed cold the entire time. But when his gaze fell on Nina, something more complicated flickered in his eyes.
It had been eight months, and Nina had changed.
She looked even more beautiful now. Gone was the school uniform–in its place, a black off- the–shoulder dress that made her look poised and striking.
“Come on, everyone, sit down–no need to stand around,” a few classmates called out, ushering Chase and Katrina to their seats.
Katrina’s eyes lingered on the table, already drawn to the spread of food, and she could barely wait to reach for her fork.
Watching her, Nina could tell–these past eight months hadn’t been kind to her.
And Chase, who used to be attentive to Katrina, hadn’t spared her a single glance since they
walked in.
It seemed that life under strain had finally begun to wear them down.
“Katrina, we heard you had a baby–is that true?”
Someone at the table couldn’t wait to ask.
Katrina flushed slightly. “Yeah. He was born not long ago–a boy.”
“Really? Congratulations!”
Everyone offered polite words, but to Chase, it didn’t sound quite so sincere.
