“What good would that do? They are merely standing close. There is no solid proof of anything between them,” Nina replied calmly.

“They were practically about to kiss!”

“Even if they had, Katrina could easily shift all the blame onto Miles. She could pretend she was just an innocent woman being harassed. Chase would never dare stir up huge trouble in front of all these guests. They would still act like a loving couple in public even after falling out privately.”

“So we just let it slide? That is such useful leverage against them.”

“Didn’t you say the Huntington family is deep in debt now? Think about it, why else would Miles seek her out?”

“For her looks?” Caleb shook his head and dismissed the thought at once. “She is plain at best, far from stunning. No one would fancy such a scrawny figure.”

“I searched everywhere for you just now. Where on earth have you been?”
