Chapter 213 Dispute Over Sending Her Home
Just then, Chase walked over. Katrina turned to him and spoke softly.

“Honey, if your mother keeps embarrassing me in front of all the guests, your caring husband image will be ruined. I only stood up to her for your sake. You won’t blame me, will you?”
Chase usually always took his mother’s side. Yet with so many people watching that night, he hated letting outsiders laugh at their family drama. He held back his temper and spoke to his mother firmly, “Mom, don’t humiliate Katrina in public anymore.”
“You dare talk back to me? I raised you for nothing!”
Cecilia’s face darkened the second she saw her son siding with his wife. Too embarrassed to stay any longer, she simply turned and headed upstairs.
Nina watched the whole scene with amusement. Outwardly, Chase and Katrina still put on a sweet loving couple act. Not far away though, Miles kept staring fixedly at Katrina with obvious longing in his eyes.
“I bet something is definitely going to happen between those two tonight,” Nina whispered.
“You sound so sure about that.”
“They have obvious chemistry. It’s only a matter of time.”
Nina knew Chase well. Once a man lost interest in his wife, he would never touch her again. Chase had already strayed long ago. If the husband was unfaithful first, there was no reason for the wife to stay loyal either.
Katrina could hardly resist the charming young heir’s advances, and she was already growing restless.
“Ms. Tann.”
Audrey walked up to them out of the blue with a gentle smile. “This party is rather dull. Will Mr. Rhodes drive you home later?”
“Of course I will send Nina home safely.” Caleb glanced toward Jensen and noticed he was nowhere near Audrey.
He paid little mind to their relationship status. No matter how Jensen truly felt, their engagement was an established fact. He knew all too well the scheming ways women used.

His only concern was keeping Audrey from hurting Nina again.
“It seems you hold quite a grudge against me,” Audrey said,

“I would never dare do such a thing,” Caleb spoke in a sarcastic tone. “You can easily get your elder brother to pour huge funds into the Mercer Group with just a word. You have a doting elder brother and an outstanding fiancé. Everyone envies your perfect life. Since you already have everything, stop picking on innocent people and keep a closer eye on your own fiancé instead.”
Pretending not to catch his hidden meaning, Audrey tilted her head in confusion. “What are you talking about? I don’t understand a word.”
“It’s better that way. We have nothing more to chat about.”
Caleb stretched lazily then turned to Nina. “It’s getting late. Let me take you back.”
“Alright.”
Seeing Nina agree at once, Audrey spoke up quickly, “What a pity. I was planning to invite you two out for a proper dinner, since the party food is hardly filling.”
Her manner looked sincere, as if she really meant the invitation.
Caleb was tired of her endless tricks. “There’s no need for that. Nina and I already have other plans later.”
“Where are you planning to go?”
Jensen stepped forward suddenly. He had been standing nearby listening to their conversation all along. His face looked cold and stern.
Caleb let out a disdainful huff. “Our plans are none of your business, Mr. Grey. You should go enjoy a nice candlelit dinner with your fiancée instead.”
“It’s already quite late. I’ve already spoken to Mr. and Mrs. Tann. I plan to take Nina out for a meal first then send her home afterward.”
“Why you?” Caleb grew upset at his overbearing attitude. “I already promised her parents I would take her home safely before we came!”
Jensen kept his calm tone and replied, “Nina barely ate anything since she arrived. Since I’m here, I can’t let her head home on an empty stomach.”
