Someone suddenly let out a quiet cough. The chatting receptionists instantly fell silent when they saw Audrey walking straight in.

Though Audrey kept a smile on her face, the gossiping staff instantly felt a chill of dread run through them.

“M-Ms. Beaumont…”

The staff member’s face turned pale. She feared she would get targeted and made things difficult for herself after speaking ill behind others’ backs.

Audrey smiled gently. “I’ve come to drop off dinner for Jensen. Is he still working overtime in his office?”

Relieved that Audrey chose not to make a fuss, the girl quickly replied, “Mr. Grey left work already. He should be home by now.”

“He used to stay late every single day. Why did he head back so early today?”

“We have no idea either.”

All of them shook their heads.

Audrey kept up her polite look in public, but her expression turned icy cold the moment she turned away.

Her driver came over to escort her into the car. She tossed the packed meal straight into the trash bin, her face clouded with rage.

“Go tell Kent to fire that short-haired employee who was badmouthing people just now.”

Audrey pulled out her phone. She almost dialed Kent’s number, but in the end she contacted an assistant she had bribed inside Grey Group instead.

“It’s me, Audrey. Has Mr. Grey gone home yet?”

“He sent us out to pick up some gifts earlier. He went over to the Tann family’s place for a visit.”

Audrey clenched her fists tightly in anger the second she heard the news.

What the assistant said next hit her even harder.

“What’s more, he just booked the earliest flight back to Halmont tomorrow morning.”

“What? He’s heading back to Halmont? Why didn’t he tell me a single thing about this?”

“I truly have no clue about that.”

Audrey ended the call right away.

Jensen rushed to book such an early flight. There had to be something going on behind this.

She immediately arranged a ticket for the exact same flight. She was determined to find out what made him hurry back to Halmont in such a rush.

Early the next morning, inside the Beaumont Group office in Halmont.

“Sir, Ms. Beaumont booked an early morning flight and will be back by noon today.”

“Got it.”

Julian sat behind his desk dressed in a tailored fine suit. He wore slim gold-rimmed glasses, carrying an air of noble elegance. His sharp facial features held a cold and distant aura.

“Have people get all her favorite pastries ready. Don’t let her lose her temper over not getting what she likes.”

“The arrangements are all done already.”

“Did Audrey come back together with Jensen?”

“They are on the same flight, but it seems they aren’t traveling side by side.”

Julian paused his writing hand and let out a cold chuckle.

Seeing Julian stay quiet, the steward spoke up again, “There is a formal dinner party scheduled for tonight. Will you be attending?”

“I won’t go.”

“I heard this event is specially hosted by the young lady from the Tann family.”

“Which Tann family lady?” Julian frowned in confusion.
