Julian had met Jensen before, so he knew exactly what kind of man he was. Any woman who could occupy his thoughts for so many years was surely no ordinary person.
“I told you to dig up information about her some time ago. Did you finish that?”
“Yes sir, I handed all the documents over to you already, though you never got the chance to look through them.”
The steward passed the files across the desk to Julian.
He flipped through the papers, which detailed Nina’s life experience over the years along with her personal photos. After glancing at her picture, he spoke in a calm tone, “She does have quite a striking look. Has she sent out the party invitations yet?”
“They were delivered bright and early this morning.”
“Did she send them only to our family, or to other people as well?”.
“From what I know, they mainly went out to firms that have worked with the Tann family. Most guests will probably be young heiresses and wealthy socialites. She doesn’t even hold an official position in her family’s company after all; this gathering is little more than a casual social event.”
“Did Nina just arrive in town today?”
“That’s right. She got here first thing this morning.”
“No wonder Jensen was in such a huge hurry to rush back.” Julian’s voice turned cold. “My sister will never be wronged like this. I’m going to see just what kind of charm this Nina has to keep Jensen utterly captivated.”
“Understood, sir.”
As dusk fell, Nina had booked a grand ballroom inside a high-end hotel in Halmont. Only a small crowd had shown up for the event. Though the Tann family had built up solid. influence back in Linholt, they were still newcomers with no solid footing in Halmont.
Most of the attendees were young ladies from partner enterprises, people who simply came to join in the fun, plus a few wealthy local heirs curious to catch a glimpse of Nina herself.

So when Julian’s luxury car pulled up right outside the venue entrance, every guest present looked utterly stunned.
No one could figure out why Julian would show up at such a low-key casual party. He had always kept his distance from such social gatherings in the past, and his sudden appearance took everyone completely by surprise.
“Where is Nina?”
Julian swept his gaze all around the hall yet saw no sign of her anywhere.
“I’m not too sure about that, sir. I’ll go ask around right away.” His personal secretary was equally confused.
It was her own hosted party, yet the host herself was nowhere to be seen, which felt extremely strange.
All eyes in the room stayed fixed on Julian. Many young socialites stepped forward hoping to propose a toast to him, but he paid them no mind at all, still searching every corner for Nina.
The secretary talked things over with the hotel manager for quite a long time, and finally got a definite answer-Nina had not shown up at all.
With a grim look on his face, the secretary walked back over to Julian and spoke softly, “Sir… she hasn’t arrived.”
“Hasn’t arrived?” Julian frowned deeply. “This is her own event, isn’t it?”
“The manager said there’s no sign of Ms. Tann anywhere. She might still be getting familiar with the city and running a little behind schedule.”
Julian checked his watch. It was already twenty minutes past the official starting time stated on the invitation. There was no valid reason for the host to be absent like this.
“Then we’ll wait right here. We’re not leaving until she turns up,” he said coldly.
“Yes, sir.”
The secretary arranged a private lounge area for him. Everyone knew Julian hated waiting for others more than anything, and this was the very first time he had done such a thing. He would never waste his time waiting for just any young lady from another family, if not purely for his own sister’s sake and future happiness.
Julian settled down in the resting zone, instantly drawing all the guests’ attention. Still, no one dared to go over and disturb him with his secretary standing close by.

Another whole hour passed, and the clock soon struck half past nine. Julian finally rose to his feet, his tone icy and sharp.
“It’s time for us to leave.”
Seeing how dark his expression had turned, the secretary knew Nina had truly crossed a line this time. No one had ever kept Julian waiting for so long before.
“Ms. Tann has absolutely no manners at all! Shall I send people out to track her down, sir?”
Right after those words left his mouth, the two men spotted a woman dressed in an elegant white gown hurrying inside. She lifted the hem of her dress while rushing forward, and accidentally stumbled straight into Julian’s arms, crashing right against his chest.
