The classmates around them murmured nonstop, and even Tara began to doubt Nina’s background.
“Nina doesn’t seem like a driver’s daughter at all Katrina, did you get it wrong?”
“Yeah, now that she’s lost weight, she’s actually really pretty.”
“Really pretty? She’s stunning!”
The chatter left Katrina bitter. She stared at her phone, confused why Chase wasn’t answering -unaware that back at the Mercer Villa, Chase was sitting in the living room, staring at his own phone.
Cecilia had reheated the food multiple times. She snapped, “When Nina gets here, you watch your attitude!”
“Mom, I don’t like Nina. I have a girlfriend!”
“What girlfriend? Let me tell you, Chase–those girls outside are just for fun. Only Nina deserves to be your wife!”
Cecilia snatched his phone, then glanced at the lobster, caviar, and truffles Chase had secretly taken from home.
She sneered, “You’d better dump that little girlfriend of yours! A girl who makes you steal from your own family at your age can’t be any good.”
Chase’s face darkened at once. “Mom, Katrina’s a good girl! Don’t talk about her like that!”
“Good girl? She’s just after our money. I’ve seen plenty like her. Only an idiot like you would fall for someone like that!”
Cecilia glared at him, frustrated. “Our family’s finished. The Tanns pulled their investment, and your dad’s business is about to collapse! If you want to stay the Mercer heir, you’d better win Nina over and marry her as soon as possible”
Just as she finished scolding him, the doorbell rang.
Cecilia quickly composed herself and smiled as she opened the door–only to find not Nina, but Marvin’s secretary.
“Can I help you…?”
“Mrs. Mercer, I’m sorry to bother you. Miss Tann had something urgent come up, so she

asked me to let you know she can’t make it.”
“What? She’s not coming?!”
Hearing Nina wasn’t coming, Chase exploded with anger.

They’d waited for hours, reheating the food three times! After making them wait so long, Nina only sent a secretary to say she wasn’t coming.
She was clearly toying with them!
Chase stood up and stormed out.
Cecilia shouted, “Chase! Where are you going? Get back here!”
Chase ignored her, jumped in his car, and sped toward the Tann Villa.
Meanwhile, Nina and Jensen were eating lunch at home when Chase’s yelling erupted from outside. “Nina! Open the door!”
Marvin and Esther were at work, leaving only Nina and Jensen at home.
Nina walked to the window and saw Chase fuming outside the gate. She raised an eyebrow and smiled.
She remembered clearly that in her past life, when the Mercers rose to power, they targeted the Tanns first, ruining their business. Her parents had begged to meet Chase, but he’d turned them away.
Now Chase was getting a taste of the humiliation her parents had suffered.
“Nina, I know you’re in there! Open up!”
Chase was furious.
Inside, Jensen walked to the landline and called the Tann Villa security.
