By the time Nina arrived, a crowd had already gathered at the mouth of the alley, all there to watch. In the center, Chase and Hunter stood facing off, while Katrina lingered a short distance away.

It was Katrina’s first time seeing something like this, and she looked visibly shaken. Behind Hunter stood a whole group of guys- some from Class C, others from outside schools. None of them looked like trouble you’d want to get into.

Chase, on the other hand, stood alone.

The scene had some of the girls buzzing with excitement. It was obvious they were there for him.

Chasemaybe we should just leaveKatrina said, her voice trembling. She was terrified the fight might drag her in.

Chase let out a cold laugh. Relax. These guys? They’re nothing.

At the edge of the crowd, Nina almost laughed out loud, hearing him talk like that.

Back when Chase was the Mercer Group’s heir, he’d always carried himself like he was above everyone else, with plenty of followers trailing behind him. All that confidence had come from his status.

Now that the Mercer family was on the brink of collapse and he’d been dropped into Class C, who was still going to back him up?

Sure enough, Hunter didn’t bother with any fair play. He waved his hand, and his guys rushed in all at once.

Chase had expected to take them down in a few quick moves. Instead, he went down almost immediately. Despite his height, he couldn’t even fight back.

Seeing that, Hunter stepped in and drove a kick straight into his chest.

Chase lost his balance and hit the ground hard, the pain twisting his face.

Katrina hurried over and helped him up. Chaseare you okay? Does it hurt?

I’m fine!

He forced himself to stay composed in front of her. Just as he tried to strike back, Hunter threw another punch. Chase managed to dodge it, but stumbled and fell again, even more awkwardly this time.

Frightened of getting caught up in it, Katrina quickly backed away.

The girls who’d come to watch Chase lost all their earlier excitement. No one had expected him to be this weak.

Nina, meanwhile, was enjoying the scene when a voice suddenly came from behind her.

Enjoying the show?

She jumped, then turned to find Jensen standing there.

His brows were slightly furrowed he clearly wasn’t pleased.

Fights like this could easily get out of hand. Someone uninvolved could get hurt.

Nina shouldn’t have been here.

I just came to watchit’s pretty entertaining!she said, grabbing his arm and pointing at Chase sprawled on the ground. Look, he’s down.

Jensen glanced at Chase but showed no reaction. Instead, he caught Nina by the wrist and pulled her away from the crowd.

Don’t come here again.

Why not?

Just don’t.

Fights weren’t the only thing that happened in this alley. Bullying and muggings were just as common.

If it weren’t for the crowd today, a girl like Nina could’ve walked a few steps in and ended up pinned against a wall by someone looking to take advantage.

Just then, Katrina’s voice rang out from behind Jensen. Him! He’s the Mercer family’s illegitimate son! If you want to take it out on someone, hit him!

Jensen stopped in his tracks. Hunter’s gaze shifted to him and Nina.

Nina turned back, her eyes sweeping coldly over Katrina, who was hiding behind Chase in the crowd. Chase was already bruised and battered, yet he still shielded her tightly.

When Katrina met Nina’s gaze, she quickly looked away, guilt flickering across her face.

But if she didn’t redirect Hunter’s attention, both she and Chase would keep taking the hits.

So you’re Jensen?Hunter stepped forward, looking him up and down. I’ve heard you’re the toughest guy in school. But you don’t look like much. You really as good as they say?

As Hunter lifted a hand toward him, Nina immediately stepped in front of Jensen.
