Dora turned to Nina and Jensen, guilt written all over her face, her tone softening. “Nina, Jensen, go back to class. I’ll have someone deal with this.”
“Thank you, Ms. Reed.”
With that, Jensen took Nina by the wrist and led her back to the classroom in full view of everyone.
Tara stamped her foot in frustration.
“Ms. Reed! That’s not fair! When Katrina and Chase were reported for an inappropriate relationship, their parents were called in. Why is it nothing when it’s Nina and Jensen?”
She fumed, but Dora ignored her. Frowning, she said, “You’re seniors. Your energy should be going into your studies, not this clique nonsense. You’re about to be adults–don’t you know spreading rumors is illegal? Clean this up right now. I don’t want to see these photos on the board again.”
With that, she turned and headed back to her office.
Back in the classroom, Nina and Jensen had just taken their seats when muttering broke out around them.
“Look at them, still sitting together. So gross.”
“Don’t they have any sense of boundaries? Being that obvious about it?”
“They were already coming to school together last semester–I had my suspicions. Didn’t expect the teachers to just ignore it.”
“Must be because they get good grades. So what if they do? Does that make the rules optional?”
The voices buzzed in Nina’s ears, dragging her thoughts down.
Those photos hadn’t appeared by accident. Someone had planned this.
Other than Katrina, she couldn’t think of anyone with that kind of grudge against her.
She hadn’t expected it. Even in this life, with Katrina already together with Chase, she still went out of her way to target her.
Nina shook her head lightly.
She’d planned to leave Katrina and Chase alone and focus on preparing for the SAT.
But this time, Katrina–you started it.
At lunch, Nina walked over to Class C. When Hunter spotted her at the door, he stepped outside.
“You’re Nina, right? Who are you looking for?”
“You.”
“Me?” Hunter blinked. “What do you want with me?”
“I need a favor.”
