“Katrina, especially you,” Bruce said sharply. “Your grades have dropped so much lately. If you keep getting distracted by relationships, you’re going to ruin your future. You need to take responsibility for it.”

Katrina bit her lip, her face flushed with shame.

But Nina knew she wouldn’t change.

Chase kept an arm around Katrina but didn’t speak. Uneasy, she looked up at him. “Chase… what’s wrong?”

“Our secret… did you tell Nina?”

There was suspicion in his eyes.

He had always seen Katrina as gentle and kind. He hadn’t expected her to share something so private–especially knowing Nina had feelings for him. Saying something like that would only provoke her.

Katrina hurried to explain, “No, Chase! I—”

“So it was you?”

He frowned.

Chase fell silent for a moment.

He and Nina had grown up together. She had always been quiet, the type who kept things to herself and never knew how to lie. He’d thought her recent behavior was just a sudden change, but it turned out Katrina had been the one to provoke her first.

“Stay away from Nina from now on.”

With that, Chase walked straight into the classroom.

Seeing his sudden coldness, Katrina felt anxious, but not afraid.
